Welcome to AH Nigel! My mom grew up in Belfast, spent a few summers in N. Ireland myself.

Nigel, welcome to AH. Keep reading these pages for the do(s) and don't(s) tips and tricks etc. about planning an African hunt. Take a look at some of the threads as they may contain the answers you are looking for. BTW your 30-06 makes a fine PG rifle. What are you thinking about taking on your first Safari?

Welcome aboard Nigel.
Just ask if you need any info.
I reload my 30-06 with 180 grain Sierra Pro Hunter and it is a very affordable bullet that groups very well in my Dakota rifle and the bullet performance on our African animals is more than adequate.
Sincerely
Hans

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.
