Hello All,

I found this site in my search for information regarding hunting in Africa...this is a great site and offers a TON of good information. Some buddies and I are avid hunters, but have only hunted White Tails, Turkeys and Wild Boar in the Southeastern parts of the US. We typically plan a few good trips each year and we are looking at South Africa later this year. I would like to take a Kudu, Impala and Gemsbuck and possibly a few other plains animals on the same trip. Any suggestions and what we should expect, things we should bring with us and any tips or reputable outfitters that we should contact? What is the procedures on importing trophies to the US and bringing rifles into South Africa? Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions.

Welcome to AH. Rather than answering your questions I'd suggest you and your buddies spend some time looking at previous AH posts. Your hunting plans are very doable. Once you've browsed the site for awhile and still have questions, speak out and you will get answers from lots of members. You can start by checking out the outfitters that are AH Sponsors. They are vetted on a daily basis. Reviewing the many options that are available and planning the hunt is all part of the fun. I hope you enjoy our site.

Welcome to AH Nathan! Importing your rifles into SA is a relatively simple process, if you'd like it expediated there are agents that will obtain a pre-issued permit on your behalf. There are a number of taxidermists in SA that will dip and pack your trophies or mount them to be shipped back to the US. Your chosen outfitter will assist with the process.
