Hi Everyone!
I have been fascinated by Africa, and dreamed of going there since I was a teenager.
I am just starting the search for a Plains Game hunt, and I am excited to see the wealth of information available here. Ideally, I am looking at an 8-10 day hunt for Kudu, Gemsbok, Blue Wildebeest, Impala, Warthog, and Zebra.
I am not interested in "luxury" and 5-star dining. I am far more interested in a real experience. Tent camping near a river and hearing hippos, hyenas, jackals are far more important than fine dining.

Nice to meet you all,

Thanks,
Virgil

Thank you. I am hoping so also.

Welcome to AH!

Thank you, Philip.

Welcome aboard. From my experience there is no dining on Kudu back strap or springbok medallions that doesn’t qualify as fine dining!
Good luck planning your trip you are ahead of most, you have your list narrowed down.

Welcome Virgil.

Sincerely
Hans

Hi Vergil, I see that a number of outfitters have already contacted you. Your ideal African hunt is not atypical and should be very easy to accommodate. "Look around" for a while before deciding on an outfitter, then make up a short list of possibilities. Compare the "fine points" then make your decision. For first timers this takes over a year, but don't worry about the time. You'll be having fun all the while. Are you going solo or do you have a friend that is going with you? It's better with a buddy even a virtual friend met here on AH. Keep us posted with your progress and remember that you can ask questions along the way. There are lots of experienced folks on this site that are more than willing to help.

Smitty, welcome to AH! Glad to hear you are planning an Africa adventure! Tent camps are absolutely awesome! All kinds of fresh tracks each morning right outside your door and lots of strange noises all night! Great fun just to walk out of camp and start your hunt!
Best of luck in your choice!
