Hello

Looking for some advise on hunting a Buffalo/Sable combo, I have been to South Africa a couple of times and i am thinking this time of something more open and rugged(safe though) with no fences..Not sure where to start, Botswana, Mozabique, Nambia, etc. Any advise or a good choice in outfitter that will not break the bank.. Jsut looking for a place to start.

Thanks
Terry

Sable are a transplant in Namibia and Botswana. (as are many species)

No fences? You are severely restricting yourself.
There are some great LARGE/HUGE properties in Zimbabwe and Zambia that have fences that have both.

These are the places to look with all the focus on fences.
ZAMBIA, MOZAMBIQUE, TANZANIA

Mozambique would be a great place. Hopefully the cyclone that hit there didn’t disrupt too many things. It’s on my bucket list for a lot of reasons. They have great free range hunting for Cape buffalo and sable.

Hello Terry,

You came to the just the right site sir... I have several different packages available but it is in South Africa, all my areas in South Africa is very big (25 000 acres up to 60 000 acres) with no inner fences.

I can also offer you a estimate in Zimbabwe... If you can PM me your e-mail address I can send you through the information on our Zimbabwean areas and what we can offer.

Here is the link to our packages in South Africa: https://www.africahunting.com/threa...-with-jko-hunting-safaris-south-africa.48148/

Please feel free to send me any questions as I will be more than willing to help you sir.

All my best,

Jacques

@JKO Hunting Safaris is based on South Africa. However we work with bookings for two different outfitters in Zimbabwe. Both are within driving distance of Victoria Falls, but also not just outside of town.

If you'd like more information via PM or email, please let me know.

Hi Terry
Tanzania may very well be a great option for you. It will be costly but well worth it. The south western part of Tanzania produces great sable as well as Bug Buffalo.
I can certainly assist you there, if interested please contact me privately on info@spearsafaris.com
Cheers

My vote is Coutada 9 in Mozambique with Mokore Safaris. Doing this very hunt next year. Also a ton of other Plains Game to choose from.

September and October would be prime months.

Zim is a good option. Price is good and wild. Matetsi area is a reasonable choice. Not a gimme hunt but wild and free. Shot the buff in my avatar there. Saw several good sable but could not connect. I have hunted several times in South Africa as well but when my son goes to africa for the first time we will hunt in Zim. Had great hunts in South Africa on some very big properties but it is not the same.

Mozambique and the Zambezi Delta in particular would be hard to beat. I have done it twice with success taking buffalo and sable each trip. It is also the place to take a wonderful free-range Nyla. Beira Airport is up and running and Grant Taylor’s Mashambanzou Safaris, with whom I hunted each time, has had no issues.

See Terry, all you had to do was ask. Now you have lots of options to work through. Good luck on the selection and planning process.

NOT TRUE!

Sable are indigenous to the North Eastern parts of Namibia. We offer both free range sable and buffalo hunting in the Caprivi of Namibia.

If you have already hunted South Africa, I think it's time for something a little wilder and more olde Africa.

Zambia has some of the best, if not the best, sable. However, the Matetsi area in Zimbabwe has essentially the same sable, and has cheaper buffalo as well. So for the best of both, I'd recommend Matetsi, and in particular Unit 2, where I took a beautiful sable (44 5/8) as well as a number of buffalo. No fences, not even on the Botswana border (although it's interesting to see what happens when you cross that dirt road on foot . . .!) and each unit is hundreds of thousands of acres. Easy access from Victoria Falls, but you will never know you are in the 21st century. Free ranging elephant and lion - I saw one or there other just about every day.

I recommend Unit 2 because I have hunted there (a few times) and because I know and trust the people who now have the concession. I have no financial or other interest in the area.

I did a little housekeeping in my shop and found some .500 Jeffery ammo that I no longer need. Superior Ammunition and Hendershots loaded them, along with AHR (American Hunting Rifles). Several Woodleigh/A-Square solids along with lead bullets in both 535g and 600g. Message me for any details.

Hi Bob, how's things going in Wyong?. Down your way a couple of years back but haven't been in NSW since Ebor for the fishing. just getting over some nasty storms up here in Qld, seeing the sun for the first time in a few days. I'm going to NZ in the spring and hope to clean up a few buns while there and perhaps shake the spiders out of my old .303LE (currently owned by my BIL). Cheers Brian
A couple pictures of the sable i chased for miles in Mozambique, Coutada 9!! We finally caught up to him and I had the trophy of a lifetime. Mokore Safaris, Doug Duckworth PH
