You know when you see it, it just screams Africa. So here are some contenders so long, maybe on of our IT gurus can make a live vote.
Flat top acacia
Baobab
Sausage tree (kigelia)
Pod mahogany
Albida
Msasa
Camel thorn
Knobthorn
Leadwood
Tamboeti
Marula

my choice sa far - sausage tree, with the expectation of a leopard up there.

“Vachellia erioloba, the camel thorn, giraffe thorn, or Kameeldoring in Afrikaans, still more commonly known as Acacia erioloba, is a tree of southern Africa in the family Fabaceae.”

Got to be baobab

While I do enjoy a sausage tree, my favourite is finding a mighty old Lead Wood that has lasted through the ages, or a Tamboti with its poisonous reputation, insect proof wood that smells amazing. I have a Monkey Thorn tree bonsai that is the same age as I am. A Marula tree in fruit is also another favourite.

Ok to the list lets add:
Camel thorn
Knobthorn
Leadwood
Tamboeti
Marula

No Acacias! Maybe this pic from the Westley Richards Explora will change your mind.

For me I voted Leadwood.

Baobab. This one on the way to Cahora Bassa in Moz.

It'll be the one that I will hopefully shoot a leopard out of someday..... :)

Colophospermum Mopane has to be on the list, somewhere on the list at least.
What about the Teak, built the railways. I was up in the Matetsi & Hwange area was sure good to see the teak trees making a come back.

The Bushman upside down tree.....no other....
They believe God got angry, ripped it out and then felt remorse and planted it again.....upside down....

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
