    About You:
    Rifle, Bow, Fly-rod. South African living in the UK.
    I am a:
    • Hunter
    • Fisherman
    Member of:
    KZN Hunting Shooting & Conservation
    Number of times I have hunted in Africa:
    My whole life.
    My favorite African country:
    Mozambique
    Hunted:
    South Africa, Zimbabwe, Sweden
    Species I have hunted in Africa:
    Blue Wildebeest, Nyala, Impala, Warthog, Blesbuck, Bushpig, Porcupine, Vervet Monkey, Baboon
    My favorite African trophies:
    There is nothing like a big warthog boar.
    My preferred weapon(s):
    My left-handed 308 with 180gn TTSX
    What weapon(s) do you hunt with?:
    • Rifle
    • Bow
    My preferred optic(s):
    Meopta Meopro 3-9x50
    Gear I cannot live without:
    Courteney boots, Leatherman Wave
    My best hunting tip:
    Sit still often and just look and listen. 95% of hunting is just being free in nature.
    My other interests:
    Fly-fishing, target shooting, woodworking, reading.
    Grew up on a game farm in Limpopo. Shot my first pig at 12. Lived in Mozambique for 10 years. I have bow hunted the Save Valley twice. Been 'treed' by elephants more than once. Have shot a rhino with a slingshot. My average day out hunting involves shooting meat for farm rations i.e. warthog, impala and wildebeest etc. I am a keen reloader and reader of as much as possible. I currently own a left-handed Ruger M77 Hawkeye in .308 that loves 180 gn ttsx.

    I moved to the UK in 2015 to start my PhD in geology. Am part of a shooting club here, but still waiting for my firearms certificates. My current project is centered around building a flatter shooting weather-proof mountain rifle on a stainless steel left-handed M70 action I managed to find. Looking forward to hunting deer here. 6.5x55 SE is the main contender for a rebarrel job.

    That's all for now.
