I have just seen that Mark Buchanan has posted elsewhere that PH Phil Smythe of Zimbabwe was badly injured by an elephant while hunting with clients in the Save Conservancy. Don’t know much more than that, but I understand Buchanan Hunts has created or joined in an appeal for emergency medical funds.

If anyone has details?

Always tragic when the risks of dangerous game hunting comes to pass.

ADDED to @Hank2211 post by @AfricaHunting.com:

From post #20 below by @Wheels:

The DSC Frontline board has approved funds for Phil. There is also a donate option in the top right of their page.

Many of us are more familiar with and trust DSC more than we do a fund raising page we know nothing about.

I have used the following link and it is as easy as buying your wife a Christmas present. ;)

Phillip is a young man with a young family and without insurance. There is a possibility that this is a life altering event. The medical bills will be enormous. If you can help, any amount would be appreciated.

This video gives a brief description regarding the DSC Frontline and people that have been helped in the past.

Thank you for the announcement @Hank2211.

Prayers....

Very sad to hear the news.

Thoughts and prayers for him and his family.

Very sad to hear and we will pray for a full recovery!

Thoughts and prayers for him and his family in this tough time!

Sad news for sure.

If anyone hears what happened, it would be great to learn that.

Sad news, best wishes for a full recovery.

Sad news indeed, may he make a speedy recovery and lots of strength to his family..

This is so tragic...he is a young man with small children...let us hope for a recovery..

Our prayers are with him, the family, and the doctors.

Horrible tragedy! Prayers for he and his family.

Sounds like a long battle ahead. Every prayer in the world.

This is crazy. I just reached out to him to book a hunt. Thoughts and prayers to him and his family.

Regarding M. Smythe's injuries, here's hoping he'll make a recovery. And here's hoping his clients are alright too. Seeing a man get severely injured by an elephant, presumably not too far away, aren't the kind of memories I'd want to have. Which, incidentally, do we have any info about how this incident happened, if the elephant was their intended quarry or if it was just some random elephant that decided to attack?
