Mad Dog on the war..

Yep

Idaho Falls is intriguing. I've driven thru there a bunch of times, but never spent any time exploring that area

I'll be just a bit south in Pocatello, about 50 miles. Have a lot up in the hills waiting for a home to be built on it. Idaho Falls is nice, a bit more developed and thus a little more money there, but it's out in the flat of the Snake River valley and the wind do blow there.

Poky is the most blue spot in Idaho in a very red state. Its city leadership has failed it and is not as well off from an economic point of view. But I prefer the mountain setting and I've got any number of fishing spots near there that I need to get re-familiarized with.

The one positive of Idaho Falls, from a fly fishing perspective, it's below the plateau of the harsher winter areas, and only 80 miles to Island Park, and the Henry's Fork of the Snake River. Big fish in Henry's lake as well
An amazing place in the nicer months
From there you can head east to the West Yellowstone area for more excellent summer fishing. Winters can be brutal there.

Very warm, dry here also in western CO. But low humidity is normal this time of year. Very dry this spring but with periods of extended cold. I didn’t record the dates but recall early 2000s here locally was a year or two of very dry winter/spring seasons followed by wildfires everywhere, June/July, followed by a couple of 3 to 4 foot snow dumps the following winter. Same one spring over on the front range during one of those years. Many collapsed roofs and smashed vehicles. Several 100+ year old gable roofed barns around here collapsed. Also, I remember one summer, maybe 2001 or 2002?, in that string of extreme seasonal variations, was a summer high temp that never reached greater than 85’ here with hard freezes well past mid-June… specifically 18’ as I was trying to pour concrete but had to wait a few days. Weather and climate are dynamic… by Nature! :)
Yes, 2000 and 2002 were terrible droughts in Colorado. Then in 2006, we got 4.5’ of heavy wet snow in March! I heard it was coming and parked a truck across the pasture and out by the highway about a mile from the house because my wife was having some medical issues. Good thing I did because I was able to put her on a toboggan a pull her behind me while wearing snowshoes to get to the truck to make it to her doctor appointment. We were otherwise trapped until my buddy brought over a giant front end loader from a nearby quarry and cleared our long driveway. That blizzard collapsed a lot of buildings along the Front Range.

Shhh, these are all the reasons I'm moving back there and try to keep quiet! The S.E. Idaho area has experienced its own share of Californication.

The man who should be at the helm of Canada, would be a far steadier hand on the wheel than our current leadership.
It's a low bar, but you are right! He had a very interesting meeting with Gov Abbott a few days ago that seems to have gone well.

Boise remains my favorite California city.

Watch that bond market. Credit spreads are going off like tornado sirens.

Bessent is enlisted for message management (50 days for 50 years) which concerns me they're not as confident in quick resolution as they say.

Sitting near inflated all time high in the s&p...

Ought to be a wild market day/week.

Western Montana has its share of Californication. From Livingston to Missoula.
Real Estate used to be reasonable. Those days are long gone.

I was amazed at how “San Francisco” Bozeman has become when I passed through there last October…

Wait…. You mean Iran lies?????

Who would have thunk it ????

:D :D :D
Dumb question, but aren’t capabilities supposed to be somewhat secret? Who was Iran supposed to inform of their capabilities? Why would a country NOT lie about something like that

I lived there temporarily for about 8 months. I was glad to leave.
The 2 best things about Bozeman were the craft breweries, and Westley Richards Base
Main Street was pretty cool at Christmas time all lit up.

I'm not a financial advisor and I don't play one on TV.

But a very simplistic version is that credit is the lifeblood of the economy.
The bond market is maybe 14-ish percent bigger than the equities market.

The "spreads" are basically comparing govt bonds to corporate bonds.

It's a reliable indicator which (again... Not a financial advisor) indicates lenders (banks) are nervous and credit is tightening which means earnings of corporations are tightening because credit is not as cheap. This means high flyer stocks sober up and the broad equity market usually starts to contract. Usually. Maybe. Probably.

Now... Couple that with the whole planet (actually China and eu mostly) feeling the pain due to shutting off oil flow (operating costs just went bazooka) and the US market being in the clouds...

Conditions are good for crazy to show up. I'm sitting on the sidelines for a bit.
