Is it the kind of force you would put in to arm and support a resident militia? Or is that a separate skill set and done by a different organization?

Different organization..

The USMC has personnel trained in Foreign Internal Defense and unconventional warfare… and it is possible a small element of those guys are floating with the MEU… but the entirety of the USMC personnel that can perform those sorts of missions isn’t large enough to scale things to the size that would be required for Iran..

The army has an entire regiment that does this sort of work.. and has other units outside of that regiment that can support those sort of activities…

If what we wanted was to start a revolution inside Iran, the Army would be managing that mission with intelligence agency assets assisting..

These are the sort of extreme people you are dealing with in the israeli government.. Some here accuse the regime in Tehran of being messianic (they are..) but yet you support a jewish government who seek the land from Egypt to Iraq because their bible claim they are in their full right to do so..

Perhaps it would be smarter to cool the israelis down instead of headlessly going into this war with Bibi..?

PS - The Brent just passed $100..
More witless babble.

Ss# only proves they have a work visa not citizenship.
Yes... but if they have that (and the number will link to the visa), then they have the capability to prove citizenship, don't they?

Oh, and if there is no birth certificate on file (for whatever reason), the registrar can provide a letter stating that instead.

Again, I'm not arguing the SAVE act is a good idea, I'm arguing that discussions revolving around an inability to prove citizenship is a red herring.

Completely different organization. In fact, one of the reasons that MARSOC exists is a SOC temper tantrum revolving around Marines doing FID.

Didn't we have a discussion about acronyms a few pages back? :E Tap Foot:

Well, if they have that (and assuming the name matches the number, and it's not false/stolen) then that's what they need to prove citizenship. So it's kind of a circular argument.
Not sure how all of that works, but a visa is only issued to non citizens.

But you don't really think Iran can take over the world and impose Sharia law on us all do you?
Not impose by force, but the quiet invasion of Europe has resulted in a number of locales that are de facto under sharia as the local LE can no longer operate there. Others have pointed out some in England and France. There's also an area of Chicago that has been overrun the same way and Chicago PD just stay out.
Absolutely, scaring the bad guy is the better outcome. And self defence is a integral concept to a just society.

But if I disarmed him last year and scared him away I am not sure why I am back again doing it this year.

I fully concede the moral imperative to strike against bad actors. But I think it needs to be executed properly, and without causing more harm than good. And with the minimum amount for force to do the job (although this can be difficult to measure in the moment).

And absolutely no offence taken. Your hypothetical is a good way to explore the issue.
You didn't scare him badly enough, because you used the minimum amount of force. Very analogous to why we are back in Iran. This time, we are using the correct amount of force.
Then what is you're solution to making voting at least as secure as walking into a strip club?
That's another that should have made my rant list!

We did. But Foreign Internal Defense and Special Operations Command have already been defined, so...

Those of us that didn't spend time in often get lost in the military acronyms, even some of us that grew up around it (Dad was a USMC A-4 pilot). Thank you for the reminder.

Yes it’s Proposition 10 says the state should prohibit Sharia Law, the Islamic legal code
For reference I voted against sharia law and most of the other propositions the wacky left wanted ( free medical treatment for those wanting to transition to a different gender for elementary and middle school. Children)
Is that with blunt scissors?

If anyone wonders why the US Navy and all are cautious of underwater mines, I lived through hitting a mine aboard USS TRIPOLI and subsequently, “fighting the sea”. Two weeks ago we discussed the USS PRINCETON striking a mine. She was more damaged than TRIPOLI which stayed on station clearing lanes for the amphibious assault as the flagship of the Allied Countermine Taskforce for another five days. That was an intense five days as TRIPOLI kept taking on water and we would have less and less ship’s space as those compartments flooded and were secured.

USS TRIPLOI in Drydock to repair mine damage

Underwater mines form an air pocket under a ship’s keel. The unsupported weight of the ship then breaks the keel. Ships not as ruggedly constructed as US warships might just sink to the bottom of the shallow 200-foot-deep shipping lane of the Strait of Hormuz. That would be a month to remove that shipwreck to clear the sea lane.

War is a contact sport. It looks like the US and Israeli militaries have this operation well planned. They are executing boldly with appropriate safety for younger versions of me and many here.
Still baffles me to hell that you can repair that and be back in 30days. The UK can’t even get one out of port.

Mearsheimer..

Global insurance market for tankers is one of the big issues here.. Mean what you want about Clinton, but his analysis is towering above the incoherent babble Trump delivers..

Its not 21 miles wide. (although even if that is true, it would be narrow enough). It is only as wide as shipping lanes are wide, and as shipping lanes are deep. Who ever is interested can do the google search.

Clintons scenario no 3, is what I have envisioned 2-3 days ago. (min 20:20 apprx)
When deciding not go back to work. It keeps me wake at night, too.

Mearsheimer..

I've mostly stayed on the sidelines this week in this thread. You still don't seem to accept the fact that Trump has not nor do I see him changing his mind regarding the definition of victory here. Trump has said from the start that regime change was never the goal. That if regime change happened as a result of the attack it would be because the Iranian people stepped up to overthrow the government.

Why you and others seems to be laser focused on the idea that winning means a change in the regime, I don't understand. The primary goal here with this attack has to been to set back the Iranians goal to achiever a nuclear weapon and in general to make war.

Stop posting this nonsense about no regime change means failure. You almost seem gleeful at the prospect of being able to cheer on a Israel/USA failure.

No regime change may spell major global economic setback..unless passage of Hormuz is secured..

One fifth of the global oil consumption (20 million barrels) is trafficked through Hormuz on a regular day..

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
