To reiterate what I've said previously, if Donald Trump's outbursts are "election interference" in a sovereign country, you may want to re-think the definition of "sovereign". This is especially true in a parliamentary system where you are voting for your local MP, assuming everyone else will do the same and then that party will determine the PM. From where I sit, his statements may have fueled an information campaign run by the media (with whose help/financial assistance?) but he's not solely responsible.
I note there was a comment relating to trade. That's not really my concern, but to address it, ask your Australian friends what happened in 2020 when Australia petitioned the WHO to determine the origins of COVID-19. How did that affect the economy? Who caved first? How much damage can letting that camel's nose under the tent really do?
No, my real point is more along the lines of remembering the USSR's influence on the DDR, and how the DDR was used as a way in to western Europe. Remember the guy who was running a bio facility in a garage in Las Vegas? He entered the country from British Columbia. That's just one that we know about. It's not really difficult to get things across the border, and if you can get things into Canada without question, it's easy to get it further south. I'm surprised that Canadians want to be so offended by Trump, but are incurious about Canada's relationship with China, and ways the Chinese are influencing the Canadian government. I mean, even the Toronto Sun is starting to notice things are amiss. I guess it's easier to blame Trump. After all, it's not like your MP is going to encourage you to collect on a US bounty because of things you've said about him.
Sure, I guess you can say it's Trump's fault that he's pushed you into the arms of China. It's kind of like blaming your ex for your turn to alcoholism instead of your personal choices. If that makes it easier to look in the mirror, OK. Trump will pass. He's out in a few more years, and there's a lot that can happen in the world in the mean time. But I promise you, if you're not careful, there are things that are worse than his childish outbursts.
