Im new here. Been to Africa once when I was younger. Had a fantastic time with Lategan Safaris. Shot a black Wildebeest that was right around 90 inches. And several other plains game. Had 4 kids so my time and all my hunting $$$$$ have been tied up for the last few years keeping me from hunting like I used too. Saw an episode of Ram Outdoors recently where he shot an Elephant. And now I Have Africa on the brain 24-7. Love all the stories and articles here. Also now that I’ve caught the fever again, and I’ve been reading all the articles here I am dead set on buying a .404 Jefferey... so thanks for that! Lol , anyway thanks for adding me , and I can’t wait to read more stories and maybe contribute some of my own.

Welcome to AH Shaneb! Nice to hear that you had a great time hunting in Africa. looking forward to your contribution.

Welcome to our place @Shaneb where your bug is certain to be fed

Welcome aboard Shaneb. I certainly like your choice of rifles. The 404 Jeffery was a grand old rifle. The resurgence of that caliber amongst AH members is a tribute to that fact. Don't overlook The Montana Rifle Company's 2019 lineup. But if you want to go the Custom Rifle route you can find out where others have gone.
You can look forward to a lot of encouragement when it comes time to "justify" the need for a new rifle or a hunt on which to use it. I hope you enjoy your time with us.

Welcome! Many of us have the "bug" constantly here!

Welcome to AH and back to the addiction!!

Welcome to AH! I wholeheartedly agree on the 404 Jeffery. I have one and am having another built. I learned quite a bit along the way and am happy to chat.

Welcome back to the madness!

Welcome.
Sounds like you are seriously hooked.

I am actually looking at the Montana’s. Nice looking guns. May be needing your encouragement sooner than later.....lol

It gives the feel to me like a .28 gauge to wing shooting. No real rhyme or reason why it works so good. It just does. Ballistics don’t jump off the charts but everyone raves about them. I like that.

Shaneb, I have two 404(s) as well. If you read up on the Jeffery you'll find that it had a greater following in Africa than the 416 Rigby did. They use the same bullets, with the Jeff at 2300 FPS and the 416 Rigby at 2400 FPS. I took an Eland with mine last July with an eighty yard offhand shot. It literally dropped in it's tracks without taking a step forward or backward. When a rifle has been held in high regard for well over a hundred years I seriously doubt that it will cease doing so any time soon.

Welcome to AH Shaneb! Glad to have you along with the rest of us addicts on the forum. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Welcome to the addiction.

Welcome Shaneb. I am a .404J fan also. Took my first buffalo last summer with my .404 at 90 meters with one shot. Mine is a converted RSM .375 HH. You will have no problem finding members to encourage you in acquiring a .404, nor your next safari!

Welcome to AH !

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
