But he won't, instead he'll talk about how great his first administration was, how great he is, how stupid the current administration is (a fact) and how awesome his undefined plan will be. Leading some to wonder if there even is a plan.

So evidently his strategy for victory is hinged on getting every member of his base to vote and pray that a huge number of Democrats and left leaning independents stay home. If that doesn't work we're going to be stuck with the same shit show we've had for the past 4 years OR it will get even worse when Harris takes over.

Hating Trump is a luxury for a democrat. The one situation where I see democrats turn on their own president is in times of war or potential war.

I don't wish for war, but I merely am calling out that if this Ukraine/Russia thing escalates, or China/Taiwan, or Venezuela/Guyana, democrats do tend to temporarily vote for Republican presidents.

For democrats, the luxury of ripping on Republican POTUS ends when they think they could get nuked or their kids could get drafted and killed in a foreign war. Surveys consistently show democrats believe Republicans are more effective on military matters.

This is something Ive found both interesting and very cool in recent years..

Believing that the D party has been the party of the minorities and the working class has never made any sense to me at all... if you just pull back the top layer of that onion and look just slightly deeper it becomes pretty clear that while its a party of hand outs, that those hand outs ultimately lead to oppression and control..

there could be arguments made to the benefits of welfare and other social programs that were instituted during the great depression (as well as arguments in opposition).. but it should be pretty clear even to the least intelligent people on the planet that hand outs have not done anything to further the welfare of minorities...hand ups have worked on occasion.. but hand outs have largely all been dismal failures..

so why continue to support the party of oppression? but minorities (whether racial, religious, ethnic, etc) overwhelmingly have continued their support for the last several generations..

I think that tide is finally starting to turn.. it gives me some hope for the future honestly..

Prior to the last election, and shortly thereafter, many predictions were made that Biden wouldn't finish his term. Some even predicted he'd only go a few months with at least one member stating just a few weeks. Well, here we are looking at the next election predicting they will replace him at the convention....

I hope they hang on to the old coot and the Dems keep their horses hitched to him through the election. I'd like to see him get trounced in the electoral college AND the popular vote. Speaking of which, a number of states (Oregon, Colorado, and others) have passed laws pledging their electors to the winner of the national popular vote, regardless of who wins their respective states election. The law would not be enacted until enough states coalesce to equal or exceed 270 electoral votes. Curious to see how these laws are viewed after this election.

the very best thing he could do (IMO) is stick to major issues (the border, Ukraine, Israel, global terror, the economy, etc), and refrain from mentioning another persons name for the next 8 months (no reason to say a word about Biden.. we all know what we know at this point.. no reason to attack Haley.. she has lost the race and everyone knows it now.. no reason to pick a bombastic nickname for any of the clear clowns running the D party.. everyone already has an opinion of Schumer, Pelosi, Newsome, Harris, etc..etc..)... stop all the childishness.. and stick to trying to demonstrate that your focus is on fixing what is broken and improving what hasnt been broken yet.. THEN maybe he has a shot...

but if all we're going to hear between now and November is "Crooked Joe", "Nimbra" every time he wants to reference Haley, Ron DeSanctimonious, "Crazy Nancy", etc.. etc.. I dont think he's got a snowballs chance in hell.. he will continue to disenfranchise people and continue to piss people off.. and to win, he needs every vote he can possibly get...

I don't see any choice but to vote for him however reluctantly. He did good on judicial appointments which is why I voted for him the first time.

On the Second Amendment, I think he still is at heart a NYC liberal despite what he says. If he hadn't pushed the bumpstock rule on the ATF, we wouldn't be fighting that plus the arm-brace rule and the receiver's rule. He opened the door and the prohibitionists jumped through it with glee.

A Georgia Judge dismissed 6 charges against Trump, as the corrupt Fani Willis case continues to unravel.

Joe wants to bring them all here of course, just "let them in!". Has apparently already let in 130,000 or so, more to come, yeah baby yeah!!

I had many trips to the Dominican Republic during work. Met quite a few former military personnel who had been in Haiti as we monetarily helped them. They said that place would never improve. That was in late 90’s early 2000’s.

And so it is.

Unless it were perhaps LBJ, and he likely could have defeated Nixon in spite of the Vietnam War, I can't think of a democrat who was turned on by their own party.

FDR was elected to his third term while Europe was ablaze in the fall of 1940. He even led passage of the Selective Training and Service Act on September 16, 1940 - two months before the general election. Not only were all those democrats apparently not worried about their kids being drafted in what was shaping up to be a major war - we were already escorting British convoys part way across the Atlantic - but Roosevelt defeated Windell Wilkie with an electoral landslide of 449 to 82.

I think one could make the case that Truman's decision not to seek reelection was in part due to the Korean War, but he also had in effect served two terms, the economy was in particularly bad shape (what seems to be the real driver in most post- Civil War national elections), and his personal popularity was at a low point. Dwight Eisenhower handily defeated Adlai Stevenson in the '52 election, but I think most historians would agree that to the extent his victory had anything to do with the war in Korea, it was because he was the nation's most famous and successful General Officer rather than that he was a Republican.

Since Vietnam, largely thanks to the Reagan build-up, Republicans have gained a perception of being strong on defense. I am not sure who actually has deserved that moniker since him. Bush I was essentially a third Reagan term and he took the US into the First Gulf War. Clinton is generally perceived as a very successful President (seems impossible I know, but it is true) - certainly with respect to the economy. It is hard to make the case that the American public turned narrowly to Bush II because they were afraid of a war. Of course, the aftermath of 911 put paid to those various considerations.

From a defense investment perspective, Obama was on auto pilot through most of his administration, and budgeting was focused on current ops more so than force development or improvement. From a military investment perspective, Trump essentially followed the same course regardless what he may claim.

With respect to Biden, he is Obama without a filter or overall control of his administration. I think it would be a long hard effort to find a single democrat anywhere in this country genuinely in fear of a draft. After all, we don't have one now, have not used one through two decades of war, and I know of no serious national politician of either party supporting one. I would simply suggest were there one proposed in 2024 he would likely be by a Republican.

But let us say there are somewhere in deepest darkest Austin soccer moms terrified of WWIII and a draft that would take their children to war. Would they vote Biden or Trump? I do not think it is close, and it would not be Trump.

A mini-rant, not really related to any of the normal topics. Perhaps it will paint me as a crotchety old man standing on my lawn, yelling at the neighbor's dog.

I frequently watch Fox News, for primarily (these days) Gutfeld and The Five. My mini-rant is some of the commercials.

Mike Lindell? Yes he has a right to turn a buck. Good for him. His commercials alone would make me choose a cinder block over his pillows. I will literally hurdle living room furniture to turn on the mute.

Also, whoever voices the commercials that sound similar "We urgently need your help to send a message of support for President Trump" or "We need your help to tell Congress that your gun rights are not to be infringed." It's not the messages, per se. It's the guy's voice. Same thing as Lindell: MUTE!

Maybe I just had a bad day at work (though it didn't seem like it) and I am grumpy. But I decided to vent. To those I may have offended with this rant - those who think I am criticizing Trump (I am not) or you are a big fan of My Pillow (I am not, and yes I have one - my wife bought it) or maybe you're related to or friends with the guy doing the commercials... well, I apologize for offending you.

OK, mini-rant over, and Gutfeld is on. Carry on....

Yes. “Duty, Honor, Country” was removed from the Mission Statement and replaced with “Army Values” in the relevant place. “Duty, Honor, Country” is the Academy motto and remains as such. Not sure when it was inserted into the Mission Statement, but it was not there when I entered in July 1971, graduated June 1975.

Revised Mission Statement:
The USMA mission statement has been modified as follows: “To build, educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets to be commissioned leaders of character committed to the Army Values and ready for a lifetime of service to the Army and Nation.”

Orban has resisted the Muslim influx, I imagine that's what Trump was fawning on.

I would not consider Orban a dictator. That’s what the MSM pushes because he will not take immigrants. I was in Hungry in 85 when it actually had a dictator, this guy not close.

On a side note, that was the only time the trains have ever run on time in Italy.
