Pfffft. I demand reparations for the Roman oppression of the Gauls. With interest!

I've been OPPRESSED!

You’re probably right, but they are brainwashed imbeciles that lost their critical thinking.

You should really watch your mouth!
You are laboring under the delusion that you have superior intelligence to the vast majority of people on this forum over a broad area of subjects. How dare you make a statement such as this! I was ripping people out of the clutches of death for 13+ hours a day before, during, and after COVID.
You clearly speak of what you do not know. You have the luxury of not seeing and living through what I, and a plethora of medical professionals have.
There are anti-vaxxers and there are anti-covid shot people. I am not the former and I have seen children going through misery because their parents would not let them have their vaccines. NOT the Covid shot, I am talking about standard immunizations.
I hope you have some tissues incase your nose starts bleeding up on that high horse you sit upon.

I wish you good luck finding them. The super majority joined a religious cult in exchange for their independent thinking and their doctor-patient relationship.
I assume we must have because that could not be farther from the truth in my personal experience and the experiences of my family and the vast majority of those we know. Our family, my son in particular, and all those others have received superb care at medical facilities as diverse as Walter Reed, the University of Maryland Hospital, INOVA, and Scott and White here in Texas. Medical professionals from RNs through unique specialists to surgeons to the med techs maintaining imaging equipment or drawing blood have by a vast majority been caring and extraordinarily professional. I also hardly think of myself as being particularly naïve in judging any professional activity.

Interesting article below that one. Now 18 NATO members are “paying” their 2%. 14 more to go.

Surely you've seen the signs of cult thinking recently in the medical field? Masking mandates? Double masking? Any medical professional knows how an N95 surgical mask works. They know that the particle size they are designed to capture, and they know a virus is much smaller.

But the medical establishment wasn't just saying "this sounds dumb, but the CDC says...". No, they were shaming and blaming anyone that said "this is absolute medical nonsense and is clearly a replay of the duck-and-cover drills children in the 1950s did to hide under their desks during a nuclear bombardment".

In the end as you know, the NHS and CDC have admitted the masks had little efficacy. They've also recently declared that Covid is now equivalent to the flu for care and treatment standards.

In another example, there was anecodotal data that said Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin may reduce symptoms or improve outcomes. Both drugs were FDA approved. Both have little to no side effects. The medical practitioners were actively working against patients that requested their use, and the medical systems were forbidding Docs from even prescribing or permitting off-label use. There was nothing to lose for these patients, and if it was merely a side-effect free placebo, placebos are powerful for patient outcomes. But no, the medical establishment was blinded by the CDC and NHS, and those two entities wanted NO off label treatments because any efficacy noted could potentially result in removal of the vaccine emergency use authorization for mRNA.

Then we go to the shelter in place orders that the medical establishment supported. It led to the loss of health of billions of people trapped at home. It led to the depression and suicide of tens of thousands of employees and small business owners. It led to the largest wealth exchange from the middle class to the newly minted Covid billionaires. It also resulted in the loss of dignity of countless people that couldn't comfort their elderly loved ones that had to die alone in homes, away from a visit from a family member.

So yes, the medical establishment was imbecilic, or ignorant, or machievellian, or useful idiots for an elite interest group that included Pfizer, Moderna, Walmart, and others.

I blame the medical establishment's conduct. They have blood on their hands. They indelibly fractured the sacred nature of the doctor-patient relationship, they shilled for bad science and bad politics, and they killed a lot of people by toeing the party line that ensured the emergency use authorization would not be in jeopardy. (E.g. any factual data was suppressed that might cause "vaccine hesitancy")

Medicine is no longer the independent scientific function it once was, and it is no longer a sacred personal relationship with a patient, it is a franchise of pharma and gov't interests.

That's what Covid did.

Now, I agree that the shelter in place in places like NY and CA went too long and the politicians abused their emergency authority.

That being said, at the start of the pandemic we had a great number of dead. The dead were being stored in containers in NYC rather than the morgue as there was no more room. Hospitals were also at max capacity.

So, if you think some sort of an isolation was not needed at the start what would you have done?

Covid was not a hoax. BTW, Trump was instrumental in fast tracking the Covid vaccines and also was responsible for Covid policy guidance from the start. Interesting that those on the far right give him a pass on this and blame everyone else.

Interesting, and i did not expect the turn at the end:

A ridiculous strategy if it is true, the US stands to lose a vast amount for the sake of relatively few Palestinians. Israel needs to get on with their operation and get it over in a few weeks. They will lose far more soldiers, but you can't light foot a war and expect to win it.

The piles of dead people and no place to store them myth was just like the myth in the 1970s with trash barges off the east coast. People believed we were out of landfills just like people believed we were out of morgues. The reality was that Covid policies prevented effective scheduling of funerals, reduction in non-essential staff to bring people to crematoriums, barriers on travel to bury a loved one, barriers to obtain a casket, delays getting autopsies completed, etc. The piles of dead body wasn't the inference that we were experiencing death anywhere as extraordinary as it sounded, it was the unintended consequences when normal processes cannot flow due to gov't arbitrary rules.

Isolation in the beginning provided no material benefit to the disease, it just delayed its mutation. Virus mutation is generally a wonderful thing, across all of time pandemics eventually result in weaker strains that are nothing more than inconveniences. (e.g. seasonal flu, Omicron covid, etc) Those with comorbidities were going to die and did die, the excess death rates that world gov'ts cannot explain to this day show that. What they won't state is whether the excess deaths from all-cause mortality was due to the vaccine adverse reactions, loss of fitness, loss of mental health, or a variety of other causes related to lockdowns or vaccines.

I wasn't a fan of Trump's approach. I was not and am not a fan of Fauci's approach. I suspected a rat from the start and went on record starting in February of early Covid that this is going to be a big farce.

In hindsight I wasn't just right, I was sadly, pathetically, over-the-f'ing-top right in a disturbing way. The fact they got Pfizer's covid director on hidden mic admitting they had full regulatory capture of the CDC and NIH is affirmation beyond all measure. The fact it got little airplay shows just how much the media was entangled in it along with the AMA, et al.

So, the latest POTUS approval rating are out and it seems that rather than getting the "bump" in approval that most Presidents enjoy post SOTU speech, Brandon's numbers have actually gone down to 38% nearly matching his all-time low of 37%... This is no surprise, but what continues to confound me is that even 38% approval is a shocking number to me and begs the question of what parallel universe these 38% are living in... 82% of those who approve are registered democrats which explains some of the insanity, but democrats don't account for the entire 38%... Brandon gets a thumb's up from 26% of independents and even 3% of republican voters which I find most surprising of all...

With around 38.8 million registered republicans in the USA, there is no possible way for Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney to account for the entire 3% approval from republicans which would represent somewhere around 116,400... This means that in addition to Liz and Mitt there are another 116,398 republicans out there with their heads placed firmly up their own arses...

It gets even better... In the most recent Gallup poll, 70% (down from 74% a month ago) of ALL registered voters say that they think this country is on the wrong track, and of that 70%, 54% are democratic voters... So, how exactly do you have a party who overwhelmingly approves of Brandon's performance (82%) and at the same time, over half of them (54%) think the country is heading in the wrong direction? WTF? We have to be the most uniformed, and indoctrinated electorate in the free world...

Not since the days of segregated baseball could I imagine anything more unfair and infuriating in sports:

Makes my blood boil. Same thing happened to my daughter-in-law in college in 100m hurdles.

Yet, at the same time Biden beats Trump in multiple polls. It is sad for the GOP that the current candidate can't beat such a weak Democrat candidate.

One poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation showed Biden leading Trump 47 percent to 44 percent. There were 1,072 registered voters surveyed between February 20 and 28 in this poll.

Another poll of 1,350 registered voters by Emerson College put Biden ahead of the Republican by two percentage points, 51 percent to 49 percent. The survey was carried out between March 5 and 6.

Of the 6,334 registered voters surveyed by Morning Consult between March 1 and 5, 44 percent would vote for Biden and 43 percent for Trump.

And Biden would beat Trump 43 percent to 42 percent, according to TIPP polling.

Regarding Covid, if anyone thinks I'm armchair quarterbacking the whole debacle in hindsight, here's my facebook commentary on the sh*tshow from the onset. You'll note that I was fairly spot on at every turn, pointing out how medicine and science were being corrupted and the average citizen was the casualty.

Unbelievable. If you want to look like a shill for big State or a propaganda arm for politicians, this is what you do.

Instead of allowing free exchange of ideas, curating what opinions are permitted will surely create the beginnings of revolution.

All it will take is one conspiracy or alternative from mainstream viewpoint to be proven true and it will be complete distrust of all social media and entertainment. Statistical odds of some blind squirrel eventually finding a nut? 100%.

From the patently obvious but everyone has been in denial news desk:

Cloth masks were largely ineffective. It was obvious to any reasonable thinker that they were ineffective. Politics dictated that it was a grand gesture we had to do to appear to care about others. But again, it was all a bunch of hogwash. 10% effective is what the studies now say. Sounds about right. Of course the health officials wouldn’t tell people that at the beginning (And they have admitted it off record) because there weren’t enough n95 masks and they were worried hoarding was going to create a problem…so they let the world believe the stupid notion that cloth masks had measurable benefit.

And those n95 masks that are not designed for the purposes used? 50% effective. Which is obvious as well to any reasonable thinker. They are designed to blow vapor back and to the sides of the wearer, as is their purpose to keep a surgical field in front of a healthcare worker from getting direct blasts of various pathogens.

Headline, Vaccines losing effectiveness. Anecodotal data point from Fauci / CDC was that the best vaccine in the US was losing efficacy at 6% month over month.

The statistical concern I have about believing the efficacy was as strong as claimed in the beginning is as follows:

1.) Mentality of the US was that you get Covid, you could die. Everyone was begging for testing. It was a bizarre obsession to get tested even if you were asymptomatic or had mild flu-like symptoms. Hospitals were also obsessed with this, because if you rolled into the ER with a gunshot wound or an anvil on your head they could get government subsidies if you were a "Covid" patient. Hence, the private sector really, really wanted to see Covid everywhere.

Act II

2.) The mentality of many people, especially old people, was that you could not get Covid if vaccinated and then later if you could get Covid, you would not die. Hence, people are prone to suck it up at home and not run out for testing.

Those two factors, zealous over-reporting in early covid and now under-reporting in the later covid era, give me pause to think that the vaccines are far less effective than the "6% loss of efficacy month over month" reported by health data.

But in light of all of that, governments want more of the same vaccines issued as boosters, are not requiring masks for vaccinated that can spread it just as commonly as unvaccinated, and are creating many penalties for refusing the somewhat ineffective vaccines.

This seems like an Onion article but it’s true.

Covid-19 vaccines haven’t prevented getting, transmitting, or dying from Covid. (Data suggests they work, their efficacy in actual data is sorely misunderstood by people) There is no science that supports vaccinated people giving up social distancing practices. 1/3rd of UK Covid deaths last week were fully vaccinated. Nonetheless....

Yet, the government is going to host a parade for health workers where everyone is asses to elbows in a crowded area spreading disease.

Movie theaters and Covid, the reality:

-Malls, the primary traffic generator for movie theaters, has been in decline for more than a decade. Retail in shopping malls was in decline way before Covid.

-Consuming content (movies) has been in a long-term swing to on-demand streaming services for the past ten years. The consumer's behaviors have further changed since movies are now available same-day on streaming services as they are in theaters. The consumer doesn't want to go to a theater before Covid and they really don't want to go to one now.

-Movie Theaters have troubled real estate. Their properties are not easily converted to other uses. So the assets of a theater are troubled because they are tear-downs to repurpose, and further troubled because they are adjacent to malls that people do not want to shop at based on the past decade's economic data.

So why, why in the heck are people buying AMC and other movie chains stocks sending them to insane prices separated from all reality? The individual investor is buying stocks based upon memes while egging each other on to pump-pump-pump stocks that should be in bankruptcy.

Beware. Logic and economic data do not support current valuations! This is insanity and insanity always precedes market collapse.

Lets take a trip down memory lane today.

ZeroHedge, the investment site blogged about the incredulity of Dr. Fauci's statements that the Covid19 virus was not man-made and leaked from the Wuhan lab.

SocialMedia "Big Tech" decided that ZeroHedge was spreading misinformation and fake news by suggesting as a media outlet that the lab-leak theory was possible. ZeroHedge is not able to post on most social media platforms at present.

Dr. Fauci's emails were hacked and leaked to the Internet. In the emails, Dr. Fauci is told by an expert virologist at Scripps that the virus does have characteristics of being modified by man. Fauci immediately forwards those emails to his direct report marked "Urgent" and states to have his phone on him to deal with these emails same day.

Fauci testifies before Congress and advises then president Trump that there is no support for the accusation that the virus leaked from Wuhan or was that it was man-made (modified by man in a lab setting)

Conclusion: Fauci likely lied or misinformed the president of the United States and may have perjured himself before Congress. By his influence and authority, big-tech cancelled media voices that stated there was evidence of the virus being man made and leaked from a lab.

Friends, this is the challenge with content moderation and big tech. Politically motivated people that align with Big Tech can suppress the voices of other media outlets, limiting us to the marketplace of ideas and potentially suppressing the free press. Meanwhile, anyone that said anything about potential lab-leaks or man-made modifications to the virus were viewed as "quacks, conspiracy theorists, q-anon wackos, etc.". When it comes to access to the free press, we need meaningful changes to Big Tech's approach to silencing the alternative viewpoint media.

Fauci has lost credibility.

Bonus nugget: Fauci's leaked emails support that surgical masks were not effective, all while telling everyone masks are required.

Bragging that you got the Covid Vaccine is analogous to bragging that you brushed your teeth on Tuesday or took a shower on Thursday. Good for you, you appreciate hygiene. You do have to do all three of those things over and over again you know. The vaccine wasn't a destination, it was a single page in a lifelong journey of future Covid vaccines in perpetuity just like flu shots. Considering these facts, bragging about your Covid shot is a very bizarre behavior equivalent to me mentioning I took out the trash today.

April 7, 2021

Get the vaccine or don't get the vaccine, that's a personal choice and I don't really care. Plenty of pros and cons on that one. What I do care about is reality, and few people are operating in reality at this moment.

Reality includes these facts:

-Vaccines are like flu shots, they will help with certain strains and will be ineffective with others.

-The vaccines will be a forever commitment, not a quick jab and you're suddenly immune. As such, I don't care if you skip this one or not, you'll be getting 20 vaccines per decade if you go the vaccine route anyway. They are good for some strains for about 6 months at a go until a new vaccine for new strains is created.

-Vaccine or not, the old-normal is dead and buried. Social distancing is the new normal. Vaccines are not highly effective with the ever-mutating virus nor are they a license to go back to old ways of large gatherings. Whether you vax or not, your plans of superbowls and MLB games are probably ill-advised.

-Probably a good time to take up outdoor hobbies that don't require large groups of people. Bowling league and raves aren't going to be advisable activities anytime in the next ten years.

The insanity of the left. Racist to the core. Oregon is reporting:

“The state's COVID-19 Vaccine Advisory Committee is a group of 27 individuals tasked with devising "a vaccine sequencing plan focused on health equity to ensure the needs of systemically affected populations, including communities of color, tribal communities and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, are met." The committee's members include representatives from health providers as well as community groups such as the Oregon Pacific Islander Coalition and the Somali American Council of Oregon. Although decision making responsibility ultimately lies with the Oregon Health Authority and Governor Kate Brown, the state has pledged to follow the committee's recommendations.”

To recap: Your access to the vaccine will be based on race, rather than on medical need. Not the elderly and infirm first, then first responders, then teachers, then critical infrastructure workers, then children, then the rest of us.

Nope, the color of your skin or your protected class will dictate your prioritization for a government entitlement.

I'm not sure why this is even a debate based upon science?

The whole mask thing is a correlation to lesser virus transmission, not causation. A.) People are socially distancing while wearing masks. B.) Those that use due care wearing a mask use due care in many other facets such as hand washing. C.) people find masks annoying so they are making less trips out to places of possible exposure because they are expected to wear masks.

So what's the point of the masks? Maintaining control of the population and trust in the government. Does that sound absurdly far-fetched?

Remember in the 1950s they had every kid in America ducking under the school desks doing weekly "duck and cover" drills in the event of a nuclear missile strike. It turns out that desks are as equal at preventing concussive damage, building collapse, and radiation death as masks are at protecting against particulate as small as smoke or viruses.

I don’t mean to make light of death, but statistics are important, as is data.

Does anyone know the anticipated pre-Covid annual US mortality rate?

What I’d like to understand is how many of the 155,000 deaths in the USA attributed to Covid-19 would likely have died from their co-morbidity anyway.

Put another way, did Covid kill people that were going to die of flu, diabetes, heart failure, etc?

That number is important for me to find and grasp to rationalize how much economic damage and stimulus (debt) has occurred in relation to how many real-lives saved. (Or planned deaths avoided in aggregate)

All I can say is good luck predicting the future outcome. Peter doesn’t have a crystal ball.

Covid was not a hoax. BTW, Trump was instrumental in fast tracking the Covid vaccines and also was responsible for Covid policy guidance from the start. Interesting that those on the far right give him a pass on this and blame everyone else.

FYI,
Your two separate statements above are self-contradictory...

Which is it? If you feel that the "2 weeks to flatten the curve" was the right move, you cannot criticize Trump's handling of Covid at the same time...

However, you are correct that Trump was instrumental, if not solely responsible, for greenlighting all resources necessary to get these drug companies to produce not only a vaccine, but to look at any and all treatment options for which he was also wrongly criticized and ridiculed for... The fact that the vaccines did not perform as advertised and were ultimately used to weaponize and divide Americans is not on Trump... I guess it's also Trump's fault that he was not a virologist?

Trump was put into an impossible position and was creating Covid policy at the mercy of the so-called "experts" who we have since learned got just about everything wrong... Trump's "2 weeks to flatten the curve" was a compromise with Fauci and Birx who actually wanted an indefinite and perpetual total lock-down. We now know how well that worked out for those democrat-controlled states who kept the shut-down going even thought all of the developing "science" was indicating that the lockdowns were far more harmful than helpful...

I'm not giving Trump a "pass" on anything Covid related, but I will certainly acknowledge that he and his Administration were in an unprecedented, and impossible situation where they were forced to make the best decisions possible based on the information at hand. Unfortunately, we all now know most of that information was not science-based... My only criticism of Trump was that he did not replace Fauci and Birx from the Covid team much earlier when he began to realize he was getting bad, politicized advice from unelected bureaucrats. Sadly, there is no telling how many lives could have actually been saved if the MSM and TDS'ers spent less time calling Trump a xenophobe and blocking the credible science-based information instead of pushing their false political narratives.

Yet, at the same time Biden beats Trump in multiple polls. It is sad for the GOP that the current candidate can't beat such a weak Democrat candidate.

You need to stop getting your polling information from Corrinne Jean Pierre... LOL..

You are apparently one of those in that parallel universe I was referring to... There are currently 0.0 national credible polls that have Brandon defeating Trump in either the national election or among the swing states... Trump leads by 5 points in the collective average...

For Peters potentiality to be plausible, you have to assume a certain level of competency and capability within the current administration...
