ZIMBABWE: Off To Zimbabwe With AH Friends

View attachment 480237View attachment 480238I have heard so many good reports on YouTube and from our own @Philip Glass about Qsuites on Qatar Airways that I bookEd one for this incredibly long journey.
Four of us will meet up in Dallas and fly Qatar to Doha. Toby will fly out of Atlanta and meet us in Doha. From there it’s on to Lusaka, Zambia. We will only be on the ground less than two hours then on to Harare, Zimbabwe.
Then we have a charter plane taking us to a strip near the camp. 30 hours in the air so I wonder how much I can sleep and how many movies I can watch? Bourbon in copious amounts should induce the necessary sleep.
How much was your round trip airfare?

Good luck to you and all on your hunt!

God Bless Gentleman, shoot straight and shoot plenty! Cheers, Cody

Why not hire a driver from Lusaka to Kariba (3 hrs+) on an already 1/3 too long series of flights to get to Zim?? The Qatar flight setup looks very nice, but that will come to a successful conclusion after that! You'd see things never imagined from the air! A $20 spot at the border crossing will get you going in minutes (as opposed to hrs!) ;) I just have issues with flying beyond Africa and then back. SMH. Limit the risk. Buffalo? Elephant? Guessing the former with time for the bolt and the double. 30 hrs 1-way?? It's taken only 20 ish hrs for that in the past...Including a flight to SA, Windhoek and then the Caprivi or SA to Harare (same general mileage to destinations.) 20 more hrs (a day!) in flight time, no matter how comfy, just seems a waste. That's 2 days hunting or 2 days sooner to return home! Was a travel agency involved? All that said, enjoy whatev it is you're hunting! Show us a map of the flight plan...

We booked these flights a good while ago and got good prices. The thin* is we didn’t trust Delta or United to get us there with all the issues they have had around the first of the year and now through the summer.

So very true and very wise of you. I will take extra hours if my flights don’t get cancelled and my guns get there when I do

I took this same route last year on Emirates and didn't realize the Dubai to Harare leg made a stop over in Lusaka at the time we booked nor how close Lusaka was to Lake Karibe or I would have surely inquired more as I think you are definitely right about it being the closest airport. I have to imagine with guns it would make it extremely difficult but I didn't have any guns and seems it would have been an option if considered more. I know this outfit is based out of Harare so it might make more sense to them leaving from there also.

For me this Qatar itinerary is the fastest on gun friendly airlines to Zim. Ill fly DFW-DOH-HRE-charter plane with no hotel night. We used TWG for our flights and are happy with the service.

Everyone have a great trip and be safe. Look forward to hearing the adventures.

If you can't shoot a hippo or @Philip Glass can't get a hyena on the Omay, you should both pledge to QUIT hunting or not returning home until you do

I didnt get a hyena on a 21 day hunt there last time. They said it was bad luck to hunt the hyena before I got a leopard. I never got a leopard so I didnt get to hunt hyena until the last day or two. Youve been there and know the situation and know how frustrating it would be to not get one.
Philip

Are you willing to take the proposed "pledge" above ? :ROFLMAO:

Somebody please snap a picture of the Crocodile Farm International Airport Lounge and Waiting area for me if y'all go by there. Mine didn't come out last year and I can't find a single picture of it on the internet.

What is this and where is it!

How many times can a person pack and unpack a case before it becomes obsessive compulsive behavior? Ha

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….

I'd like to get some too.

My wife (a biologist, like me) had to have a melanoma removed from her arm last fall.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,
