Some I’m sure have heard of this real world Forest Gump. This video will save you time. But the book “Happy Odyssey” is better. The video is the typical cheaply done documentary. With file photos repeatedly used. It’s still an amazing story worth the :20

Thank you.
Paul

I heard about him several years ago. Sabaton released a song about Adrian Carton de Wiart nammed "The unkillable soldier".

I'm still suprised they haven't made a movie about this incredible man.

This generation of kids we have now wouldn't know the meaning of tough.
To them going without their phone for 5 minutes is torture let alone even joining the military.
I can see them now
Hang on sargent I will see ( insert influencer) has to say about that. I'm petty sure that's a breach of my rights.
I can't March today it's raining and I might get wet.
That looks a bit sketchy so I think I'll pass in that corpral.
You get the picture.
They just don't make them like they did back then.
Kids in our time had spunk, spark and get up and go along with respect and loyalty.
Kids today even think Manual Labour is a Mexican peasant, not hard work.
Where did we go wrong with kids nowadays.
That's right the government and do gooders stopped us from being parents. If Johnny or Mary fallout of a tree and break an arm your a BAD PARENT, If they don't get a prize for failing that's social injustice.
Bad news shit head, kids will hurt themselves, in the real world there are winners and losers.
Let kids take risks, the world isn't a bed of roses so be prepared to fail and get back up and try again instead of crying about it.
Yes there are some good kids and young adults out there because they had real parents but in today's namby pamby cotton wool society they are getting harder to find.
This old fart has complained enough.
At least here we have kids that still hunt and actually eat what they shoot, respect people and are becoming well rounded members of society because they have parents that care about them not what the world thinks of them.
Bob

Strongly recommend reading the Memoirs of Otto Skorzeny some of the operations he did were incredible. Especially how he located and rescued Mussolini . Then he went to work for the US.

“Our youth now love luxury, they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders, and they love to chatter instead of exercise. Children are now tyrants not servants of their household. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers.” - Socrates.

The more things change...

Completely agree, Bob. The best thing that happened to me (besides meeting my bride) was moving from the city to the country at 13 years old. Up at sunrise, dig potatoes, handle the cattle, learning to drive a Ford pickup in the field, driving tractors, building fences, picking figs, harvesting the eggs, dressing out chickens.
The WPA from the Great Depression, Roosevelt, could be reinvented by the current leadership with vision. Put young people to work, with credits for trade schools, going toward High School or Junior College credits,

@Bob Nelson 35Whelen - gotta disagree with you on this one Bob - but only because I’ve met a lot of active military guys since my Daughter married an Army Ranger and now high ranking officer. While most 20-30 somethings meet your definition “entitled brats” there are still some real tough kick-ass-Men in the military. I guess it’s these type of men that gravitate to the Military (and leave the “Brats” in Civilian life) are just becoming more and more rare….but I’m glad we still have them

I have to agree with you but in my opinion 90%are still limp waisted little shits that don't know what hard work is.
I have friends in the building trade that won't employ apprentices any more because all they want to do is be on the phone.
If you notice most of the best kids now come from homes where parents were parents and taught kids right from wrong, respect, honesty and loyalty.
I know if one couple that won't tell you the sex if their child, they want the child to decide later in life what they want to be called. I shake my head at that one.
Attention deficit disorder ( (ADD) in some cases should be called adult discipline disorder because parents are scared of upsetting their children if they discipline them. You are supposed to discuss things with your kids now not argue
Eg You give little Billy a school uniform to wear that is compulsory but no little Billy wants to wear his grungy stuff. You are now supposed to say I understand you are not happy and I understand your choice. Then you start bargaining with him to wear the uniform.
To me it's a no contest. Billy the rules are the rules you have one of two options. Wear the uniform or get a smack on the arse and go to school naked When you get older you might be able to make the rules but until then you will follow them.
I'm an old fashioned type of grumpy prick.

@Bob Nelson 35Whelen - I can see the WorkForce has been “diluted” with the lazy & weak….but the Strong, Brave, and Motivated are still found in the Military ——maybe they are the ones that were raised “the Old Fashioned Way” !

We would have more if they reinstated the draft and compulsory service.
