MOZ Terrorist Attack..

@pilar, I hope you are right! Both governments had best make a plan and nip this crap in the bud. This could easily bleed over into eastern Zimbabwe as well.

A distinct difference is that I’m mostly always armed here in the U.S. Whether it’s Africa, Mexico, Europe or other countries, the sheep (us) are unarmed and the only people with weapons are the criminals/terrorists and the police, who may or may not be in cahoots with the armed factions. And those bent on mayhem know that. Not very reassuring.
That’s what I was thinking. A 1911 is an insurance policy in New Orleans. But elsewhere, a non starter.

Every where in Africa is a dangerous place , red = 4 extreme high risk, orange = 3 , yellow = 2 ( including RSA )

Yes, but look at the quality of the hole!
Add in the fact that the average extremist typically sprays and prays rather than trying to take well aimed precise shots or actively engage. Exception is likely foreign fighters and well planned/coordinated incidents and attacks.

Didn’t @Scott CWO deal with something similar on his hunt in CAR or Cameroon and need to utilize Global Rescues extraction service?

There's one thing a bit fishy about all of this. I know for fact that @KWALATA SAFARIS does not open camp in the L9 block until July. I was under the impression that was similar for many of the other Niassa blocks at the least, not sure about the rest of the Moz hunting areas. So it seems a bit early for foreign clients to be hunting in the Niassa in April.

Global Rescue with the team of mercenaries option may be a good plan.

Their, simple, "travel insurance" has much to be desired...

IME...

4 years ago, my outfitter told me to AVOID any flight to Matupo and find a flight to directly to Tete.

I did, and everything worked out just fine.

IME, just do what your safari company recommends.

If you are from the US, use Gracy Travel or Travel Express to book your flight(s), and buy good travel insurance.

We all want to romanticize about hunting Africa 100 years ago, but hunting anywhere there now is 100 times safer than it was then, regardless of where you go.

Nine guys with AK47s spraying shots at PH and I on the ground and then in Cruiser as well. Flattened both rear tires as we drove away with bullets also hitting doors, mirrors, cab, my headrest and windows. So many bullets. Miracle we weren’t hit or killed. Happened in eastern CAR in June 2016. Every day since is a gift. We initially escaped on our own and then linked up via InReach device with UN soldiers and Ripcord that met us in the village of Dembia and took me back to Rafai. Ripcord flew me out the next morning. Best $450 I ever spent. They picked me up in a King Air 350, paid my hotels and return flights home. Kept my wife informed all along the way. Awesome company. Also gave me a free lifetime policy afterwards. I was the last hunter to hunt eastern CAR in the Chinko River/Rafai area. Still nobody operating there but rumor is that someone is currently trying to put something together.

I’m praying for the people with Kambako. I have hunted not too far away in block R3 in the Niassa Reserve.

I was back in Africa the next year. Africa is a big place so don’t let the bastards stop you from going somewhere more safe. Do your research.

Islamic militants have been actively pursuing jihad for some years in Mozambique. In 2020, they beheaded 50 locals and have been active since including beheading children. Bunch of rich honky foreigners are just icing on their hate cake.

Here are just a handful from a quick search.

I booked with Kambako for 2026….
Hopefully you have sent their office an email to check in. Let us know what they say. I hope it is just a rumor that their camp was attacked.

Good Day Members

If it's indeed true our prayers and thoughts to those involved.I will try and find out more from our side but nothing yet.Jaco ( Kwalata ) might have first hand info.

Our area is more than 900 miles south in a straight line from the effected areas. We are on our way back , just crossed into SA from Mozambique after getting camp ready for the first hunters coming in.

The delta areas typically didn’t host their first hunters until late May or early June back in the early 20-teens. This may have changed recently though.

From my outfitter in Mozambique:
"The Armed Defense Forces of Mozambique (FADM) are on the trail of a group of insurgents who have occupied the Kambako Hunting Block in the Niassa Special Reserve and are holding some workers hostage."

The group is a well funded anti-christian movement.

Problem is that the Moz army appear very week.. The have brought in some of the SA army to help out in the north..to not very much avail..

Now if you commit some white mercenaries with Mi-24 combat helicopters..etc.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
