Just found this forum few minutes ago. Wow...

Thinking re: trying an African Safari - probably for antelope (Kudu, Oryx, Wildebeest, Warthogs etc),
but also daydreaming re: cape buffalo. But buff sound very dangerous/expensive

Wondering what country to hone in on - political stability/safety, etc.

Leaning to South Africa - but not too sure about that.

My experience to date is shooting deers & wildbores on my farms...
I shoot 15 - 20 deer & wildbores/year &with 30-06, & some time with 12 bore..

South Africa will be great to be a 'first' hunting experience!!

South Africa is a save country, that can many clients vouch for even on this forum!! All countries has their crimes, so , yes, i suppose...

Buff is dangerous but NOT necessary expensive. Why not try for a Buffalo Cow hunt? Cost is a third of the Buff bull price and just as excited...and still classed as n BIG5 HUNT!!

Your 30-06 will probably kill anything up to an Eland.

Your 30-06 is about perfect for most antelopes in South Africa. You have the right grouping of animals for a first safari and by honing into South Africa cannot be a mistake. Other neighboring countries to (South Africa) is also moderately stable and can be considered for a hunt.

Be sure to ask around, and there is many great outfitters and professional hunters that would be able to entertain all your needs and requirements to fulfill the safari of a lifetime.
