Welcome! I grew up in Corpus Christi, during a great period of time to be a young man in a warm seaside community. There were no real public school dress codes as the pendulum had swung the other direction from the prior rigid standards. It wasn't until the last semester of my senior year of high school when halter tops and ultra-short shorts became banned for young ladies as "too distracting to the classroom environment."
