I sit at Gate D-9 in McCarran Airport in Las Vegas. I have about forty minutes before takeoff on the first leg of a lot of travel. After a rough check-in at the American counter where they insisted I needed a temporary import permit to fly to South Africa. That was finally straightened out by checking my bags only LAS-PHX-JFK. I knew that I was going to have to deal with having to check my rifle in at the SAA counter regardless. Regardless, it ate up an hour of my time.
I’m not upset. Thursday morning (JNB time), I’ll meeting up with my dear friends, @dabloobana and @norfolk shooter. When we met a year ago, we realized that we were all hunting with Pawprint Safaris and decided to coordinate our hunts. For me, it will be my first hunt for Cape Buffalo.
Let’s hope the rest of the journey goes well.

Good luck and it's always fun dealing with our airlines when half don't know there ass from first base.

Welcome to the idiot bureaucracy of international travel. Luckily, I haven't had any trouble flying out of Reno. My bag is checked through to JNB and sometimes I get called by TSA for inspection of my gun case. Most times they Xray it and it's good to go. I have to deal with a bunch of @#$% in New York because I am traveling with firearms. Namely TSA, NYPD, and special check in dumdums. On my last trip in April I had no less than 2 NYPD escorting me through the terminal like I was some kind of prisoner going from one counter to another to my final check in. This happened both ways, departing and coming back. One took my name and phone number and wrote it in his little notebook. No reason given and I didn't ask. I guess that's life at JFK.
Best of luck on your safari.

Good luck, safe travels, and take good notes for the hunt report! Not to mention pictures!

Thought I'd chip in. Can't wait to see Africa again and more to the point good friends @Vanguard2279 and @dabloobana

Everything went very well at JFK. SAA asked when I purchased my tickets. Travel Express arranged my travel last year. No firearms fee this time.
Port Authority Police we’re called over to clear the rifles. I expected that. They were courteous and professional. The rifles then had to be x-rayed by TSA. Now I’m in Buffalo Wild Wings having a beer and a burger.

Have a great trip guys. I hunted with Pawprint last year and I was a great time.

And I don’t recommend Buffalo Wild Wings at JFK. Dine at your own risk.

Wish you guys all the best :D Cheers:

Good luck to you all. Shoot straight.

Best of luck and enjoy!

Best of luck! I’ll be anxious to see pictures and read your report! You guys are going to have a grand time!

best of luck and safe travels!

Good luck! Safe journey.

Best of luck on your hunt. Please keep us posted.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
