Three years in the making. I finally picked up my new Heym in 577 NE this is the twin and big brother to my 450-400 I have had for a few years now and my forth double. Now I need to find a big jumbo hunt to take it on. Once I get some trigger time and adjustment to it.

I have been reading books on the great elephant hunters and the .577 DR was so prevalent

That is awesome! The size of those muzzles is a thing of beauty. Cant wait to see how it shoots.

Congratulations! Excellent choice in calibers as well!

In the unlikely event I could ever afford it, a pair of matching doubles in 450/400 NE and 577 NE would also be my choice.

Beautiful! I’m guessing you custom ordered both directly from Heym? How long was your wait? Did you get any upgrades?

Excuse my ignorance I’m sure it’s evident for the more informed.
Yes both were custom orders from Heym the 450-400 was ordered in 2020 and was a three year wait. The 577 was ordered in 2023 and just received.
I was measured and fit for both rifles and they have a lot of upgrades. Upgraded wood and English best high gloss hand oil finishes. Between what they call grade two and grade three engraving with extra engraving on the muzzle and flush mount swivels. Also stimpling and engraving down the rib of the barrels and iron sights to cut glare. Engraving on the grip gaps screws and extended tangs. Gold inland caliber engraving. Silver nitrite plating of receiver and parts.

Awesome! Could you post some up close pictures of the engraving?

I see a hunt report on Botswana with those two rifles in your future

Defiantly at some point. I about five safaris behind as far as reports go. I really need to do one on a hunt in Zambia with Strangles Middleton which was a great hunt for hippo and croc. Then I had an awesome hunt with Wayne Van Den Bergh and Jr Nyamazana Safaris in Zim for elephant and buffalo. Which I just got back my ivory a few weeks ago.
I think Wayne has the best bang for your buck elephant hunts out there.

I do think I should be the caretaker of it till you get your past hunt reports written and posted:A Stirring:

I will get my FFL's info for you:A Outta:

All kidding aside that rifle deserves a nice big elephant with a lot of Botswana dust on it and you.

Wow. Stunning.

What's the weight difference of them?

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.
