Heym 89b in 577 N.E.

This is exactly what I was referring to/suggesting in my other unsolicited 2 cents posts.

Heym’s lead times have been discussed over and over in other threads and Chris’ cell is out there to call and talk to, and some of us have done so. In addition to this, I personally know of 6 new Heym Owners who received their doubles in the last 60 days (in the US) and a couple others who’ve ordered or are about to order. I can also go back several years to a lot of other Heym owners and I don’t know of many instances where the delivery was done within the quoted window. In most instances delivery has been taking about 50% longer than what’s been quoted. It’s not a problem unique to Heym either.

That’s the last of my 2 cents … once again, congrats on a beautiful rifle. Can’t wait to see/read the hunt reports.

Well said others that have got rifles have experienced the same issues I have said. The problems I have had and if you call Germany to order a rifle they will have you go thru Heym USA something about them being the only distribution for the USA.

It’s been well said but I will state my experiences. Once you get your deposit in it is very hard to get ahold of Heym USA to get any updates on your order from Chris or Heym USA. I think he will tell you anything to get the deposit then you get the run around after but that is just my experience. If it is a three year wait to order a new double it should be stated as such up front don’t tell customers 20 months or two years then never answer the phone when you call for updates past your due dates. I would like also see a real price structure not a ballpark verbal on the phone.
Twice burned not an experience I want to repeat again.

I won't say more about Heym Rifles then the USA franchise is ruining their reputation.

Too bad, Heym makes a great double rifle.

I have shouldered some Heym rifles that would good(ish) and others that were very barrel heavy. My Rigby balances so perfectly, I fear I would be disappointed if a new Heym did not shoulder exactly the same.

Yes both were custom orders from Heym the 450-400 was ordered in 2020 and was a three year wait. The 577 was ordered in 2023 and just received.
I was measured and fit for both rifles and they have a lot of upgrades. Upgraded wood and English best high gloss hand oil finishes. Between what they call grade two and grade three engraving with extra engraving on the muzzle and flush mount swivels. Also stimpling and engraving down the rib of the barrels and iron sights to cut glare. Engraving on the grip gaps screws and extended tangs. Gold inland caliber engraving. Silver nitrite plating of receiver and parts.

Would love to see a quick photo of the stippling and engraving on the top rib. Beautiful pair. Love the muzzle engraving as well. I find it and engraving on the front sight ramps very tasteful upgrades.

I have a 2025 89b Grossbox in 500NE, 26” barrels, 15.125” LOP, extended top and bottom tangs, right at 12.5lb and it balances perfectly.

As much as I love the rifle, if it came down to it or my 450NE 89b, the 450 would win out. It’s a total doll, also grossbox and a chubby gal, but such a joy to shoot and incredibly accurate. I keep finding myself talking to myself, whispering needs and desires of a 577…then talk myself down because I love to shoot and at times in volume that I don’t know if I’d enjoy the 577 as much or not. My 500 is fine for 40-60 rounds a day, but put it down and pickup one of my 450/400’s and they feel like you could shoot them all day. My 505 Gibbs, I shoot 6-8 rounds through it and I’m almost ready to put it down. Basically, I need to try and get behind a 577 sometime soon.

Three years in the making. I finally picked up my new Heym in 577 NE this is the twin and big brother to my 450-400 I have had for a few years now and my forth double. Now I need to find a big jumbo hunt to take it on. Once I get some trigger time and adjustment to it.

I can tell you both of my rifles I was quoted a much shorter wait time from When I actually received them this last one the 577 I was originally quoted August 2025 and just received in end of July 2026 not sure if that is the case but it has been for both mine. I understand a month or two variance but almost a year is not acceptable in my opinion.
I would really like to upgrade my 500 nitro I have now as it is a 88b PH model and would like a matching gun to these two in a new 89b but I will not be doing that unless I can order direct from Germany.

I can’t help but guess that a 13+ pound 577 will not prove much of a handful compared to a sub 11lb 500. Total guess on my part, but have noticed significant differences in comfort between light and properly weighted rifles once you reach 416 Rigby and above. After fit, stock/butt design and weight play such a pivotal role in the comfort and anccuracy equation.

Thank you. While all of my Heyms have stippling on the sights and either gold line or triangle, none have the stippling and engraving on the ramps or muzzle. Absolutely including these on my next Heym order for sure. Such a wonderful little touch of class with an added purpose to boot.

Wow! very nice, Congratulations, don't know if you're going to load your own or buy ammunition, can tell you 750gr Barnes banded flat nosed solids and TSX's are absolute dangerous game wreckers at 2076 fps from my V/C 577 with 26" barrels.

Guessing the two shots I would have been told not to take proves it, a giant dry ground Tanzanian bull Hippo with his face in the grass grazing at 22 yards was the first test, slammed him in the shoulder with a 750gr TSX, he dropped stone dead and never moved again, insurance shot with solid in the triangle at PH's request was unneeded.

An old Dagga boy in the river reeds with six of his buddies took a 750gr TSX on the last rib left side, he crumbled beginning his death bellow before he fully fell over onto his right side, the skinners handed me the bullet from his right shoulder.

That is massive penetration as I have read about the rumen sack, it proved to be a non-issue with an inch and half high speed cutting wheel slicing through.

If one gets a good accurate regulation load at a true 2050 fps and up with 750 grains and can shoot it well, it is a hell of a cartridge.

Thank you for the photos. I am the same with my .450 NE. I can shoot the thing all day without issue. And it is stupid accurate.

I’ve had three years to source it so I have accumulated what I think is a lifetime supply. I got 80 rounds loaded from a guy on here. They were loaded by superior ammo in Jameson brass with Barnes tsx and solids. Then I got another 19 rounds from a guy on here loaded with 650 gr woodleighs at 1950 fps. Ans well as getting 20 pcs of Jameson brass. Then I found a place that had 50 rnds or Bertram brass loaded with 750 gr woodleighs. I bought the last 60 pcs of brass from Buffalo bore a few years ago as well then I have also acquired a few hundred cutting edge solids and some Barnes solid and a few hundred TSX.
It’s kinda a mix match compared to what I have in 450-400, 470, and 500 nitro but it will last me I have 300 round each of these calibers loaded hornady ammo and atleast that much more in hornady bullets for them.
