Anyone been getting sick on flights lately?

Your airway needs to be moist to be the first line of defense. Dry air and airways allows bugs to attach themselves.

Use a nasal Saline spray or gel. Zinc and vitamin C treatments may help also.

PSA, I carry a mini-bottle of hand sanitizer with me at all times when traveling, in my truck, and if I'm going to eat out locally. Also on the plane, I carry the mini Lysol disinfectant spray and individual packs of Wet Wipes.

Where are you getting that done?
We have a local clinic here where we live in North Central Florida that specializes with these infusions. They have a wide variety of different mixes. It’s relatively affordable at about $100 per infusion with added vitamins. Only takes me 20-25 minutes from start to finish.

Seems to work well as we don’t get sick hardly at all unless it’s some kind of GI bug every other year.

Forgot to add, in my kit I carry Zicam nasal swabs and tablets. At the first sign of a sore throat, I swab and take the tablets. Seems to lessen the effects and sometimes completely goes away.

I got a cold the day after I got home from Alaska and I rarely get sick.

Same here have no idea number of times I’ve had pinkeye.
Last year 8 of us went to the Baja fishing, 5 got Covid on return!
I have 83 yo mother in law with Alzheimer’s and her Drs have been adamant about, Covid , flu , RSV , booster shots every September.
IMHO, they don’t prevent, but do lessen the severity!

I carry a tube of Ivermectin in my 1st aid kit along with some anti-acids, antibiotics and Vit B, C, Zinc supplements. Airborne or Zicam for if I feel sick. Airplanes are a cesspool of virus and bacteria. Wash hands, especially before meals and after direct contact with others. The efforts can only prevent so much and sometimes you still get sick. A big thing you can do is to push the buttons on elevators with a knuckle instead of the fingertip. Same for ATM's, Gas fueling pumps and other public facilities. These never get cleaned. Keep alcohol gel in all vehicles and in your pocket and use it often.

Caught one of the real bugger flus (the variety that kills the weak, elderly or compromised) about 35 years ago, probably on a flight back from Alaska. Airplanes are Petri dishes with wings for sure. Not much can be done to fight or prevent virus exposure or infection other than maintaining good health/immunity and start slamming Zicam or Zinc gummies/lozenges at first hint. Zinc is one of the few OTC anti-virals available.

No and I’ve not had anyone with me sick on any international trips lately. In Peru now on a mission trip. Hard luck happens but you are more likely to catch a bug at home, work, or the airport than in the plane. (The HEPA filters work well) That is unless your seatmate has fever and sneezes on you!
So sorry for those who’ve been sick. Taking high doses of Vitamin C is a very good plan and if you typically get sick or have immune issues a Vitamin C IV before departure (or Myers cocktail) is a great idea. I may even do one before my Nyakasanga hunt!

I fly a pile of miles per year, both domestic and a lot of international miles. Airports are breeders of bugs. All of the surfaces we all grab have bugs from all around the world. Best thing that I know is to wash my hands the old fashioned way fairly often and don’t touch your mucus membranes, meaning eyes and nose. Sitting on the plane is a crap shoot getting next to someone flying home sick so it’s a roll of the dice.

I have lymes disease so I catch anything pretty easy sucks had it 38 years now .My sisteinlaw is still in terrible shape .Her lungs are perminstly damaged giving her mullen weed.

Before me or my wife fly, the day before we each do a liter IV with added Vitamin B Complex, Vitamin C, Zinc, Amino Acid Blend, and Glutathione. All IV vitamins at max dose of course.

Hydrates and gives optimal vitamin replacements with no waste like all oral vitamins (though we take two oral OTC vitamins daily). All vitamins mentioned above in IV are water soluble, so whatever your body doesn’t want or use is just excreted over the next 5-7 days depending on your metabolism.

Has helped us evade “the plague” when flying and/or traveling with family. Been doing this little cocktail for 5 years now, only at 2-4 times per year too.
Do you go into the Dr to do this, or some specialty place?

It might not be the trips but your own home!
Did you get sick on your return?
If so it maybe this.
So when I was training to become a plumber and heating engineer I did a WRAS course which is water regulations training course.
One of the blocks was about hot water cylinders and bacteria. To cut this long story short. The water in your pipes between the cylinder and your shower can and does grow bacteria when left to sit. When you turn on your taps again after getting off that long flight out comes the bacteria and steam which you inhale. Since knowing this I always let the taps run for a bit just to clear this. Must be doing something because I’ve not gotten sick from a flight for sometime.
Of course this whole theory falls flat if someone is at home still using the system. But try it and see how you get on.
The other thing is hand sanitizer just before you eat. Applied after you hand back the menu!
If addressing me, if you read my post, I got sick in Alaska. In addition, my wife was home using our shower and water.

The idea that you are more likely to get sick in your house than you are sitting a**hole to elbow with hundreds of people is silly, no matter how good the filters work.

Not in your house but at home doing normal things like work shopping etc is what I mean. Just read up on the science of the HePA filters. Or keep the fear going for the new guys so they will stay home out of fear.
