I’d say vaccines and masks…but don’t want to get stoned and banished to the corner.
I get a flu vaccine each year…not because I think I really need to, more because it’s less trouble than listening to my wife (nurse) if I don’t and get sick. I didn’t get one for years, never got the flu.
For a few years right when I started working for a big firm in Dallas, I got one each year religiously. Not because I thought I needed one, but the main partner who I happened to work with said for what they were paying me, he expected I get one. That if I came down with the flu after having the vaccine, he’d cut me some slack, but if I didn’t get it, and caught the flu, he expected my ass to be in the office 10-14 hours a day as if I weren’t sick. They arranged a mobile company to pull into the circle drive of the office building…so with his warning, I smiled and took the elevator down with him. Still never got the flu that I know of.
Fortunately I don’t get sick often, but admit I’m worst kind of combination of giant baby and asshole when I do, except COVID which just made me hungry and sleepy enough to nap mid-day.
With the anti-malaria meds we have to take, and additional vaccines suggested for other areas we travel, a flu shot might not prove the worst idea…who knows if it will help.
