Your 3 favorite hunting cartridges of all time

.270 all the range you need and easy enough to shoot for all.

.375 H&H perfect all around big game gun.

.470 N.E. to carry for work.

25-06, 300 Win, 416 Rem

If I was back in Europe and drive hunts were the standard I'd own a 7x64, 9.3x62, and a 416 Rem.

Two haven't changed in almost 55 years, the 22 and a shotgun. Ok, the guage has bounced around a little, 12, 20, 28, back to 20, currently looking for a 410 double; but there's always a shotgun in the list. For over 45 years anyway.
The 3rd would be a moving target, so to speak :sneaky:. The latest infatuation usually fills this slot for awhile; the current one being the 45-70. Started with the 30-06 many moons ago. Gone through a variety of 20somethings and 30somethings. Looking promising to become the 9.3x74R soon. Or maybe another 450 caliber. THe change can happen for almost any reason, like somebody gives me a box of shells for something I didn't have...., yet.

Heym have some nice offerings in double. You can get a various combinations on the same platform...
Still my dream rifle
500NE/500NE 1st barrel set

375H&H Flanged magnum or 9.3x74R/7×57R 2nd barrel set

7x65R/12ga 3rd barrel set

I have been using the 300 Winchester magnum extensively in Europe, Newfound land, Central Asia. But in Africa depending where I Hunt , in Savannah or forest, I use a 375 HH with 350 grain bullet or a 416 Rigby with 400 grain bullet.
I discovered the 270 winchester in Scotland two Years ago and was surprised with its effectiveness on red deer, its mild recoil favors a good accuracy.

30/06 for near every thing since I was a very young chap but !

223Rem
30/06 - 338/06- 9.3X62
458Win

Obviously a Rimfire .22 & Shotgun 12ga (gauge dependent) for everybody

This is a fun challenge. Mine would be:

22LR
280 Rem
375 H&H

Although, I tend to agree with William Faulkner when he said: "There is no such thing as a bad whisky. Some whiskies just happen to be better than others." Also applies to cartridges. Having a lot of fun with a 500 Jeff these days.

300 Win Mag
243 Win
22LR

My all-purpose rifle is a Remington 700 in 300 Win Mag. With my handloads I brew up everything from 110-220gr rounds and use it for woodchucks to bear. A super accurate, reliable, and strong all-around rifle/cartridge combo in my opinion. If you dont reload the 30-06 probably would be a better choice with a wider range of factory loaded bullet weights for versatility.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
