Your 3 favorite hunting cartridges of all time

3 yikes

22 Creedmoor (not fur friendly, but can be used on smaller big game)
280 Ackley or 7mm PRC or 300 Winchester Mag, I'd pick the first two if I still lived in the USA and for Europe the last one if I was back home in Merica!
375 Ruger or H&H, same as above

4 easier
204 Ruger mostly fur friendly
6mm Creedmoor
7mm PRC
375 Ruger

10 easy button
17HMR super fur friendly
204 Ruger
223 because it is cheap to shoot
6.5mm Creedmoor or a 6mm Creedmoor for the same reason as the 223
7mm PRC
30-06
300 PRC or 338 Lapua
360 Buckhammer or a 444 or 45-70
375 Ruger or my 10,3x68 RWS
500/416 NE in a Krieghoff double rifle
I know! It's like asking a father of four to pick a favorite child...

@BJH65
Had the chance to fire a 458 Lott in a Ruger No1 with full house 500gn loads. Expected to be slapped silly from all that I've been told and read.
Can honestly say it wasn't that bad. Very tolerable. Didn't even need my big boy pants, the wife's frilly knickers would have been fine
Bob
Bob, the RSM in Lott is even "pussier"... sweet shooting rifle.

It should be no surprise to anybody that my two all time favourites are the 7x57 and the 404J but I would have to add the 20VarTarg for the small stuff and nobody should be without a 22LR and a 12 guage sxs.

Von Gruff.
I would definitely agree with the 7x57 and .22LR. I haven't the experience with the 404 and 20 however. On a side note, are you going to be at the SCI show? I'd very much like to see your work in person!

I flinched 3 times reading this.
MY 338s are mostly ruger 77s with the medium heavy barrels dont kick bad at all .I shot 2 of my 338s 175 times in one day .I use double past pads .My stainless ruger 77 shot a 3/4 inch group at 200 yards with factory rem 225 gr remington ammo with just a 3x9 nikon .
My 338-378 Weatherbys got three are accumarks they kick like a 270 to me .I have shot .25 inch at 100 yards and an inch group with 250 grain nosler partitions .That load killes two caribou with one shot at 450 yards .
My 416s are for thick stuff for bears but i shoot them at 200 yards too just for good fun .I want to try some long range 416s bullets .

If I could only have three:

12 gauge shotgun
.22 Long Rifle
.416 Rigby

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
