Tinnitus driving me crazy

Help people with it all the time, depends on what your specific issue is. Could he ear related, cranium relations, brain issues, TMD, gut related issues, and everything in-between. You have to find people willing to do the work such as myself. I have seen different homeopathics and supplements work, just depends on what your body needs. Of course I'm a Chiropractor so my approach is different from most, but it seem to help many people, so they told me.
I’d be up for trying anything. Mine is definitely due to loud noises such as gunshots.

Absolutely, when it gets so bad like that, one will do anything. Depending on where you are interested may be able to assist, but I could find colleagues I trust to assist too!

I'm in Northern Virginia. Any suggestions welcome.

Those of you who are also afflicted, anything you have found helpful to tame it?
Been really bad this last week and driving me crazy.
Lookit up on YouTube , there are many solutions, you might find something that helps.

I have music or podcasts going all the time. At night for sleep white noise.

I have it bad. At night I run my circulating fan as some background noise.
I try and rune it or the best I can

Turn on all fans in your vicinity and never turn them off

I've been told this as well. Just having a tough time wrapping my head around that idea at age 42.
Like several others on AH serving in the military did a number on my hearing. My entire career, enlistment to retirement was spent during GWOT. Lots of bangs and booms, and you can’t exactly call a timeout to put in ear plugs.

I understand exactly what you’re going through, I got hearing aids at 34 and have had them for a few years now. Still a bit self conscious of them, especially in more formal and business settings but that’s when they’re most important. Covid showed me how reliant I was upon reading lips.

I don’t wear them all the time, or near as often as I should but I’ve found they do help minimize the tinnitus. They Bluetooth to my phone so I can directionally focus them, use them to tune out background noise, use them as AirPods, etc. Where they really come in handy is walking the show floor at DSC and SCI or in restaurants.

At night is when it’s really bad for me. Fan on, tv or music in the background. The different tones/noises help tune it out. Sleeping aids also help.

I just buried a man in his early 60's who had bad tinnitus, and even loud chatter in a restaurant would make him a nervous wreck. It finally affected his balance, and it was falls that ended him.

I understand that there is research concerning a connection between tinnitus and diabetic issues. We know that Alzheimers is called Diabetes III. No telling how far blood sugar issues take us down a rabbit hole. But it wouldn't hurt to eliminate that as a condition.

White noise - fan or noise machine helps a bit when working or trying to sleep.

Don’t know of anything that reduces it - struggled with it for 20+ years.
This is how i deal with it. I have a cheap fan in my room that i run all year. It doesnt move much air but makes enough noise to ward off the ringing.

Sadly it's permanent. Mine gets so loud sometimes I have to snap my fingers at the openings to bring it down......don't know why, but it works for me.

I asked my ENT years ago. He said there are 20 million Americans suffering with it and if he had a cure at just $1/head he'd be retired!

After decades of loud motorcycles and guns, I too suffer from tinnitis. It is terrible. The only thing I have found that helps is a supplement called Lipoflavinoid. You can get it OTC at most pharmacies.

It helps but the more you use it the less it helps. I often take it for a few days and then lay off of it for a while. This way, I can get some relief for a while.

I perceive it as the end of summer, spending the night near a field with grasshoppers. It helps to come to terms with it. In my opinion, hearing acuity is not affected, deafness and tinnitus, in my opinion, are unrelated processes.

True but damage from loud noises can cause both so they are often present at the same time. As is my case.

As for not being treatable, that isn't correct. Curable, no. Treatable yes. I've reviewed scientific studies that show that there are valid treatments. These were valid peer reviewed studies , not made up stuff on TV. The ring is actually a phantom noise generated by the brain to fill in the missing audio frequency that isn't working with the inner ear damage. Study showed that the use of constant white noise in the ear reduced stress and about 80% of patients showed improvement.

My hearing aids have a white noise generator in them. It helps. I find that I'm more relaxed at the end of the day when I wear them. I also have a noise generator to sleep with. Will it be cured? No, but I've found that it can be helped. I've been using the treatment for over a year now. It really helps. Issue is finding Drs that actually understand this treatment process. You will be limited to a few major metro areas.

If you want a recommendation in DFW, ping me.
