Got a surprise text yesterday saying my Mule deer from 2024 was ready to pickup. Swung by Top of Texas taxidermy and to say I was blown away by my mount is an understatement.

I had no idea what I wanted to do with this so I asked Erik to choose a form that showcased the uniqueness of the deer. By far this is the best full sneak mule deer I’ve seen.

I’ll post more pictures when I get him in the office. My plan was to hang him in my son’s room (killed the deer on his first birthday) but the deer is really too big for his room. Makes it hard to get proper photos.

Thanks @gizmo

In case yall were wondering what he looked like on the hoof. Funny story too, was headed home from hunting to get some burgers together for my son’s birthday party. Spotted him behind my house bedded in some weeds, conveniently 60 yards from the gate. Had him down and loaded 5 minutes before my wife asked me to start cooking. Regret not taking decent photos, but we were on a time crunch. Wife said she expected nothing less! Deer made a hell of a party prop.

Looks interesting. Curious to see a photo from the side to show the sneak.

Erik might have a studio photo of it. Unfortunately the spot it’s hanging doesn’t offer much opportunity for a side view without being right against it. My office is getting spray foamed Monday, so hopefully I’ll have him hung up out there in a couple weeks. Can see it a little better here, but again doesn’t do it justice. This thing comes alive out of the wall!

I like the mass on that buck. Congrats.

You always kill such great deer buddy. BTW thanks for bringing in the newest Panhandlin addition to meet everyone. Waaaay too cute.

Thanks. We’re pretty proud of the boy. He’s already tagging along on my adventures! Haha
@PanhandlinPat
Start em young, teach them well and they will have a great gift that will last a lifetime.
I started my son at 4.5 years old. He is now a good Bushman and hunter in his own right. Shot his first buck in his own this week.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?
