How many have noticed the very worrying developments buried in the news over the last week.
  • Iran has ramped up their Uranium enrichment program and have also admitted a major underground storage of missiles.
  • Satellite imagery suggests that North Korea is about to test an underwater missile launch ie developing a submarine launch capacity.
  • Days ago China passed laws to allow their Coast Guard to sink foreign ships in any of their disputed waters ie including the South China Sea. (Something that was already happening unofficially)
  • On each of the last 2 days, China has flown nuclear capable bombers, and fighter escorts, into Taiwan's air defense zone.
At the very least, they are testing the will of the incoming US administration. At worst they have decided that with a weak leader and a divided population, the next few months may be their best chance, for a generation, to achieve some of their long term goals.

The West had better get its act together in a hurry.

By the way, a question: I read in one discussion that in the United States there is a ban on foreign funding of American politicians. Allegedly, a person / organization receiving money from abroad does not have the right to engage in politics, and in case of violation, they will be punished up to prison (for individuals). Is that so, or is it a good wish?

Not my words but something to think about:

Recently, a friend told me that she’s never seen Forrest Gump before—which is a crime in my house. So I made her watch the movie with me.

In light of recent events, this movie has taken on a new meaning for me.

Though Forrest and Jenny started “like peas and carrots,” each of them soon got swept up by a different one of America’s 20th-century cultural currents.

Forrest’s path was classically American: going to college, playing football, serving his country, starting his own business, and going to church.

Jenny, on the other hand, dabbles in counterculture: dropping out of college, becoming a beatnik and then a hippie, joining the anti-war protests, indulging in the sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll of the ‘70s.

In these two characters, I saw a reflection of today’s America—with one side supporting the American tradition and the other opposing it.

Jenny’s path finds her used and abused multiple times, first as a sex worker and then as a girlfriend. While she experiences momentary freedom as a hippie, she eventually devolves into a groupie who steals from the musicians she sleeps with and hits her lowest point when she attempts suicide.

But Forrest never stops loving Jenny, no matter how much their paths deviated from each other. He gets rejected by her multiple times but remains there for her through everything—never imposing, never selfish, never angry, always altruistic.

It’s precisely because of Forrest’s love that Jenny is able to find happiness in the end, and it’s a kind of love that I think we can use more of in our society today.

2020 has shown me the destructive power of the forces that are working against our traditional values. Coming from a communist country, I know that these forces don’t just destroy their enemies: they also destroy the same people who advocate for them.

Many people around me don’t truly understand these forces, however, and they’re people I care for deeply. Like Jenny, they were attracted to the prospect of freedom that these forces offered, and like Jenny, they’re unable to see the destruction that these forces could cause to a person.

It's not easy, but I think that the best thing I can do for them is to be their Forrest. Even though they may seem to be confident in their decisions now, I have to be there for them with compassion and patience. I have to love them simply and selflessly; I have to stay firm in my own convictions and not give up.

For history tells me that one day, they might regret their decisions. When that day comes, they’re going to need someone there to help bring them back.

"I may not be smart, but I know what love is."

All that I recall about Forrest Gump was that he outran his leg braces and thought he had purchased some stock in a fruit company. As for the Jennys of the world, they don't seem to be making out too well in China.

Wait a minute...After months of being told it was racist to refer to COVID as a “Chinese virus” the WP refers to its new strains as “British and South African variants.” So you can use the name of the nation where it comes from, so long as that nation is not China. Got it.

To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.

what...kabuki?

i wonder if the legislators have passed legislation yet regarding the requirement to close barn doors after all the animals have departed? considering their activities of the week, such idiocy would be seen as completely sane.

It will be hard to ever overtake Obama, but he's giving it a strong run in 5 days. But we all know this is just Obama part 3 anyways, with more radical nonsense added in.

Before the accusations start, we don't have an active level 4 lab to create this new strain and if we did the cANCer government would have found a way to make money out of it... it could just become our biggest export :Woot: :Woot:

Long read but worth it ....shows how the government fktards are using psychological warfare against their own citizens ...and a fkn communist is one of their chief advisers in it.....

[26/01, 13:09] James: Extract from the following article , long but interesting.
trapped, just like a victim of abuse.

Professor Susan Michie, a psychologist with SPI-B of SAGE, speaking on LBC Radio with Andrew Castle on 4 October 2020, declared how the population had been complacent by not following COVID–19 regulations. Castle mentioned all the businesses going bust and the rising unemployment. Michie retorted that people will just have to retrain for new jobs or careers. She even mentioned that because of social distancing measures needed for schools (and other workplaces, I presume), government should just take over unused or empty buildings to adapt to the new regime. Sound familiar? It should. That’s because this is what happened under totalitarian communism. Not surprising, as Susan Michie is a member of the Communist Party of Britain.

@spike.t I don't think many people realize it but the United States is a modern day police state. Cameras everywhere, movements tracked by cellphone and GPS embedded vehicles, internet history recorded, phone call records, individual shopping purchase databases, medical condition, drugs and history databases. Own a firearm? A government agency knows about it. Hunt or fish? Yep, the government knows about that too. Travel much, stayed in a hotel in the Caymans? It's in the government cloud somewhere. Privacy is nonexistent. The path is now being paved for safe spaces to take mind altering drugs, and legalization of marijuana. The anti-gun protocol, started in the cities, is now a blueprint for the entire nation. It's beyond Orwell's 1984. We're on our way to the Cardassion Union.

Same as most places unfortunately...go to London and check how many cameras are there...you will lose count after a min or 2....all in the name of keeping you safe..... :E Shrug:...as I have said before chinese contractors have been putting camera gantries up here on the main roads in and out of lusaka, and other places for couple of years now.....

I watched a series on Netflix called Spycraft (I think that's what it was called)... It is truly frightening some of the stuff already in use to track people, objects etc... and the control of subjects... and the ability to eliminate them. If you think you can get out from under big brother, not even a bear cave in the sticks is safe from them.

Really scary stuff!

If it hasn't sold by next week I might be interested. Stock would have to be changed along with some other items. I'm already having a 416 Rigby built so money is a tad bit tight.

Thanks!
