Can anyone reccomend someone that imports to Columbus, Pittsburgh or Cleveland.

you can import it yourself to Louisville,KY as they are usfws port of entry. I do my own importing thru their. never had a issue they are nice people to deal with.

Little confused!
Any import specialist will get them to the destination of your choice.

I would tell you to call coppersmith they do it for around 400 to 450.

If you can DIY in Louisville as Buckdog stated, that would probably be your cheapest bet. If you want to use an import specialist your options are on the Atlantic coast or Chicago. Things seldom go as planned Customs clearances take longer than they should, there are warehousing costs if pick-ups are missed etc. Either you are going to travel to a port of entry or there will be a delivery charge to your home or a taxidermist. Either way there is another charge to be added to the cost of your hunt. I live in Michigan, the closest import specialist is in Chicago.

basically it isn't that hard, the people in Africa or wherever handle the dip/pack and the export paper work etc. they transport it to a shipping agent. I get emailed copies of the paper work and ask for shipping quotes to Louisville, KY which is an official USFWS port of entry. I ok the paper work and the shipping quote give them money via credit card or wire. they ship the crate and send me the tracking info the original docs go with the crate to Louisville ky. I log into the usfws website create the in the edecs system declaration for import and wait till she gets to the freight company dock at Louisville. they call me or I will have already called them and usfws when it arrives. I arrange to meet usfws agent they open crate or not depends on the mood of the day. stamps docs go over to customs they stamp docs hand all to freight agent they load my truck takes about 1/2hr at airport. By now I am a regular spend more time shooting BS with USFWS and Custom agents than needed but they are nice guys all pro hunting!!! cost me nothing extra. but 1.5 hr drive. then off I go to Dennis Harris house! It seemed very daunting the first time and the documents can be confusing but now I know what to look for. twice delta air cargo has temporarily misplaced my stuff but with electronic tracking numbers etc I keep an eye on it and them!
SO that said if you don't feel comfortable with paperwork and beaurocrats and aircargo I suggest you pay coppersmith or one of the board sponsors an extra $500 or so, probably more as you are going to have to pay for truck freight from wherever they clear it likely Chicago to you. I don't think any of them work out of Louisville. I seem to be a novelty to the usfws and customs there. what kind of stuff are you hunting???

I called a few and the closest I could get is Chicago
Copper smith was one of them

Someone has already suggested one close to you.

Brick,
What's with the frowny faces for the Miami location? I agree that traveling to Miami sucks and I avoid it if at all possible, but I have been to other cities on the list that suck just as bad if not more....;) Several in the northeast come to mind....

I would have to agree. I would never go to md, ny, nj (although I do miss porkroll), and Boston.

Are you looking for a nearby spot to Columbus, so you can clear it yourself?

You are correct that there are a limited number of places your shipment can come into the US and get cleared. However, after that, it can be ground shipped to anywhere you want, most likely the tannery if you are importing capes and skulls or right to your doorstep if the final product. If I can get stuff to a tannery and taxidermist in Montana, you should have no problem getting stuff to Columbus. Unless the USF&W agent is a Michigan grad.....

Louisville?! I really wish I'd know this when my stuff came in. I drove from SW Indiana to ATL to pick up my crate. I'll certainly keep this in mind!
