Opening morning second season today.
My daughter is always short on time so was super happy to take this 3 point at first light today.
She had developed a flinch the last couple years but has improved greatly with more practice and different loads.
300 yard shot with hornady reduced recoil 125gr sst from her 30-06.
Was very impressed as it broke the near shoulder and still exited the other side with massive internal damage.
I didn't expect that with this reduced load.
Didn't realize I hadn't followed up.
My son's girlfriend with her first buck ever. Taking the biggest one of the year so far.
We finished second season with 4 bucks and a doe.
My hunt will start the 18th.
My grandson was along for the morning as well.
A moose calf I shot last weekend.
Our hunting club filled the license in less than an hour!
Short moose hunt this year!
Our dogs have wolf vests made of kevlar with steel spikes on the back because of the wolf situation.
I had a busy day yesterday. Both my wife and I were drawn for mule deer in a good zone close to home. For the first three quarters of the two week season I was concentrating on trying to get Tina her deer but for some reason or other it never worked out for her. Then we got a big dump of snow and things got harder. So with 2 days left in the season I went out on my own while she was at work and shot this decent buck. Crappy pics but I was on my own.
Tina got off work at 1:30 and wanted to go out so I got my buck looked after and out we went. She spotted a buck that looked really good so off we went. After sneaking after him for a half mile we finally got into position and she made a perfect shot.
Shoot, you guys are making me jealous. LOL!!!!! I've been hunting hard since opening day 17 Oct, and nothing. I've seen lots of deer, but too young and not legal to shoot the county I've been hunting. A cold front is moving in, hopefully that will get them moving.
Mule deer and Colorado elk seasons almost done! Hunters driving farm roads, looking for racks, their PH driving them along, I ask that you not pull into my drive. The buck behind me, on the boundary line of the GMU somehow knows. The hunter laughs, I would invite you in to see my Searcy rifles but social distancing prevails, darkness arrives and the buck slides away into secret tree grove...
