Hunted
USA, Canada, South Africa
Hi, I'm new to this forum but have hunted in the States and Canada for almost 60 years. My wife bid on and won a safari to East Cape, South Africa 2 years ago and we have gone hunting and touring twice since. This year I will finish harvesting my chosen selection of plains game and next year I will be hunting Cape Buffalo. I sincerly enjoy reading the posts from those with more Africa experience and knowledge and look forward to learning from all of you.

Welcome to the forum, Ed! Where will you be heading in the Eastern Cape? Enjoy our little piece of heaven down here. Sure you are going to have a great time!

Take Care,
Marius Goosen

Hi, I have been very busy reading other threads and having discussions on the "over .375" forum. Sooo Much really good information and some opinions I had not considered. I've hunted with Sun Africa Safaris in Pearston, East Cape and my wife and I became involved in mission work with Annalie Moolman, school teacher and wife of Pierre the owner and mom of Pierre Jr. our PH. They are such good people, we became friends instantly. 2 years ago we brought 3 refurbished Laptop Computers for use by the Pearston Primary School (the students had no access to computers or the internet) and purchased in South Africa an office quality Cannon Printer, paper, ink and more paper and ink. We also emailed our friends and raised #2050.00 to fund a Christmas Party complete with food and gifts for 150 of the Towns youngest kids and food for most of the year for a small local orphanage. My wife and I took advantage of South Africa Airlines liberal luggage allowances to bring 50# of colorful scarfs, small rubber balls, colored pencils and other gifts for the kids in school and kids at the orphanage. I took a really nice Kudu, Gemsbuck, Bleesbuck, Impala and Springbuck. Cynthia and I ended our trip with a tour guided by Pierre and Annalie along the Garden Route ending in Cape Town.
Last year we brought 10 almost new refurbished laptop computer (the school administration was so thrilled that they started a computer skills class), raised $6000 through a GoFundMe site and funded a Christmas Party for 650 young kids in Pearston and food for the 60 student Hostel for kids from the far reaches of Pearston attending the Pearston Primary School. We came with friends and together brought 100# of scarfs, balls, pencils, toys and gifts for the kids. I took a Springbuck Grand Slam (Black, White, Copper, Kalahari and regular) and helped Pierre cull his springbucks by removing 4 sub standard specimens. The kids at the orphanage and Hostel ate well for a while!! We finished out trip with a 7 day tour of South Africa.
This year it is more mission work, a Nyala, a Waterbuck and a Blue Wildebeest, and a tour of northern South Africa. 2020 will be my year of the Cape Buffalo. If you can hunt in Africa, you have been blessed. If you have been blessed, you should be a blessing to others. Support your Outfitter and PH in anything they do to help the least of us. Blessing, Ed

Welcome and well done

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
