Hello to ALL of the very informative members!

I have actually been a member for about 6 months, and figured it was about time for some participation.
No better place to start than here.

A little about me...
So... My passion has been, and most likely always will be chasing upland birds throughout the Midwest. That's what my dad did, and I always wanted to do whatever he was doing. My son now follows me, but hopefully will avoid some of my bad habits.
I was introduced to Deer hunting late in high school by friends and other family members. Unlike today, deer weren't plentiful when I first started hunting. I do love to chase them, just not the same love I have for the birds or the dogs that find them for me.
Now to this new, or should I say, unrepressed interest... I can't call it a passion yet, but have a feeling it will come to that....
Back to dad... One of his dreams as a young man was Africa, but it was always out of financial reach. He passed those dreams on to me, but also the impression of the Great Expense. So I left it for what it was, a dream. That is until a gentleman I work with showed me pictures of his last Safari. I asked how long he had to save for that, and that's when I found that My dream could become a reality well within my means.
I rarely do anything without a lot of research, and this forum is AWESOME for just that.
My first African experience will be in 2017, with many more to come!

Welcome to the posting side! Congrats on the first African experience upcoming! It will grow on you and you will be hooked trying to plan many more safaris!

Where are you heading in 2017? What will you be pursuing?

Welcome to AH Rbi1923! Glad you decided to jump in and introduce yourself. Do you have already your hunt lined up, if so please let us know with who and where... What are your top three animals?

Welcome to AH!

Welcome ... the culmination of two generations dream is certainly worth celebrating and sharing. We look forward to your stories in Africa and at home.

Nothing like AH for information and getting people on their way to Africa.

Glad to have you posting and look forward to YOUR hunting report.

Welcome.

Welcome to AH !

Welcome to AH! My dad grew up in the farm country of western Iowa. He was not much of a hunter but his younger brother was afflicted with the hunting gene and was a great bird/deer hunter. I was hit with the same gene. There's nothing but fun to be had chasing pheasants in the company of fine dogs!

Research without questions asked is incomplete, so ask away, we are a pretty friendly lot around here.

Welcome to AH sir! Dreams do come true. And did you know that if you go at the right time of year you can do a little bird hunting with you safari in Africa?

Reedy, I am planning on SA for what I hope to be the first of many trips. I will be chasing plains game this time around.

Jerome,
First, let me say thank you for your time and effort with this site. Outstanding! I do have something already in the works. But would rather wait to say until it's a done deal which should be by next week.
My top 3 on this hunt would be Kudu, Gemsbok, and Wildebeast. In the future I will have to have a buffalo. I have the hardware to do it now, just want to ease into it.

Welcome half the fun is doing the research and looking around. That is a nice start to a list to hunt.

Welcome to AH!

Welcome!

Welcome to AH. All the best with your research. Please do not hesitate to ask, should you have any questions.

Take Care,
Marius Goosen

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
