ive been “planning” for couple years now our first trip to Africa for 2020. That’s my 30th birthday so seemed fitting. Wives 29th is also in February so 2 birds one stone. Thoughts were to go in April as flights are cheap and close enough to our birthday time frame. The concern now is that I’ve read on here and been told by an outfitter that April isn’t best time for pigs and better to wait until end of US summer. My inpatience dosnt help with this idea but I also don’t want to ruin my chance of bushpig.

Is spring bad across the board for bushpig or vary by area? Two main critters im after are bushpig and warthog then a cull package or something. Wife wants a baboon in a bad way and probably impala.

Any insight is welcome!
Dale

I took this brute in June at SS Pro Safaris in Limpopo SA. Nico is a great PH.

Depending upon the area, April can be a tough time for anything in Southern Africa (think hot, moist, and lots of green stuff). Bush Pigs are always a challenge and rare (very, very, very rare) to get on a “typical” PG Safari. I assume you have an outfitter who specializes in these rascals?

Hi Dale

will send you a pm

good luck on the planning

regards

First week of September 2017 with PawPrint Safaris. September is also a lower cost flights and much less foliage!

Another beautiful boar!
Anyone run them with dogs? Assume that’s not as worried about time of year and looks like a blast

Time of year and also where you will hunt does make a difference. If it is near corn fields could be difficult as by then it has not been harvested.

Later in the season when the food is scarce and it is dryer it is easier to bait them and also keep them on bait.

Hunting them with dogs we do a lot but that is more of a cull hunt than a trophy hunt to be quite honest, you shoot what you get. It is also not for everybody as you need to be quite fit and the action can be fast and furious at times.

Having said that, if you have booked with an outfitter who knows what they are doing they should be able to have something on bait when you arrive.

Good luck. One of my favorites to hunt.

Had a great hunt with Marius last year in July for Bushpig ... I really need to work on my happy face.

Now that I look at my avatar and a few other photos, I Believe you are quite correct ... hate to have a photo of when I am mad like perhaps when I miss something:)

That is a bruiser of a bush buck by the way......

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

Made it to Augusta Georgia yesterday for a meeting, hunt bookings are looking good for 2026 and 2027, had a great time on our Alabama safari shot a rutting deer at 200 yards with 7mm PRC near Huntsville and then headed on to Butler Alabama and semi guided my first deer ever shot a very nice broken off 8 point with hunter there and spend a few days on 1100 acres hunting preserve awesome place!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
