People living out in Alaska's remote bush regions, refer to Vodka as "antifreeze".

Blimey Paul...vodka is for russians, we people of the western (read enligthened) culture do drink scotch whisky....please try the Caol Ila 12 years..(y)

Don't look at me, I'm a wimpy City Slicker here in Los Anchorage.
However, there is a bottle of "Russia's Ruin" down stairs in the man cave, just in case Austin Powers or any other International Spies show up, wanting to negotiate nuclear agreements and such.

Ahoy Pondoro,

I totally agree with the Scotch verdict, and I shall make every effort to locate a wee drop of Caol Ila 12 Year, up here in this frozen wasteland.

Thanks for the suggestion and now I will trade you one for one.
When you have a spare minute, try Oban, Highland Single Malt.
It is so smooth that many folks take it neat or with a half teaspoon of ice water to "break it open" but, for my low rent taste buds, I prefer Oban on the rocks.

"The reason Oban is so expensive is because it's worth it"

Cheers,
Paulywog.

There is a story in John "Pondoro" Taylors biography..

His last years in London was rough, he was dirt poor and only got menial jobs. One night he had a visitor who brought him a bottle of good scotch. While tasting it his landlord rushes in exclaiming " Ahh...youre behind with the rent and here you are drinkin expensive whisky..?!

Taylor barks back in a second: "- Heaven and hell man, would you run a Rolls-Royce on cheap petrol..??!

teetotalers, be ware!!!!!

My condolences on not being able to get decent beer where you are at. :ROFLMAO:

Ha, you got me there Gizmo(y)I can get great beer up here in PA , ton of great micros and Yuengling lager being a local macro brewery (think of it as the Shiner of PA )and favorite. But like my grandpop before me the brown long neck with the red and white label still works for me now and then. It helps me stay true to my roots I guess

Now why go for an Old Mil when you've got Iron City or Rolling Rock available? ;)

Oh man Phil! Now I'm from the eastern (soda, not pop) side of the state. I do drink a rolling rock now and then. Iron city I have honestly never tried. Yuengling lager is brewed 45 minutes from my front door so it kind of dominates the scene as far as non craft beer locally.

I've never had Iron City either, by what I've heard we've not missed anything. Grew up just a bit south of you in the D.C. area, I remember the cans from the 70's with the Steelers team pics on them.

Rocks, not too bad provided their cold. Yuengling we can get out here in AZ, it's pretty good too. My personal favorite however will always be Sam Adams Boston, never lets me down.

Woulnt mind a couple of boxs of Windhoek lager in the fridge for Xmas .
MMMMMMM?????
Might have another plane ride coming !

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
