Congratulations! That weapon is so beautiful—isn't it a shame to drag it through the bush? In the rain, frost, and snow?
Thank you and Not at all. I will hunt that rifle hard. It’s maiden trip to Tanzania in 6 days. Then she’ll go to Greenland this August for musk ox and caribou. Lions baits in Zimbabwe next summer and Uganda in 2028. She was built to hunt, bought to hunt and every ding scrape and rub will be trophies like ones hanging in the wall. I love the idea of my kids and grandkids hunting with it decades from now as a fun that looks like it hunted the world. I have a Christiansen arms 300 win mag that is serial # 304. It’s been to 6 or 7 different countries, all over the US including Alaska. I cherish the rubs and marks on that rifle as much as the trophies it hunted.

Every battle scar will bring back a memory of that hunt.

A rifle that is not hunted becomes nothing more than a bauble such as a ring or painting. An inanimate object. A rifle in the hands of a hunter is so much more. Just one old hunters opinion.

@Rare Breed Ramshot Big Game is a nice load for that cartridge. You might consider staball6.5 for better temperature sensitivity with a bit higher pressure but still get to 2400fps

Regarding the 270 and such.
From Saami "cover your ass" disclaimer:)
"WARNING: Maximum Average Pressure levels greater than 65,000 psi may present increased risk of unsafe cartridge case or firearm rupture and thus require cartridge case and/or firearm designs that depart from traditional practices (materials, construction, and other design criteria)."

Not sure how the 270 got to the 65kpsi.

Regarding their case taper. The 270, et al., are at 16.5/1000 . whereas the 9.3x62 is 13.4/1000 . For dry brass and steel, the reduction in thrust is 25% vs 30%, not sure this is significant. Now, the 404 Jeffery case taper is significant at a 43% reduction in bolt thrust.

Trying to get my 9.3x62 finished up but keep running into problems with parts availability and my funds, every time I've got money to add new parts or do works I can't get what I want. Like sights, wanted necg masterpiece banded front and there rear but out of stock. Finding a smith I trust to do some work seems impossible with my budget, I can't do a lot of work even with my limited tools but just some things I can't or don't trust myself because a mess up or flaw would drive me crazy.

I measured 2 9.3x62 factory rifles. One was my Oberndorf of the 1920's while the other was a 1980's Styer. Both produced fired brass with .470" case heads and .454" shoulders. These measurements match, except for shoulder angle, an Ackley IMP case. The case capacity of both fired cases was 78gr. of water.
In my first 9.3x62 the Oberndorf Mauser i worked up to 2,675fps with Speer SP's and 2,518fps with Speer 285gr. dual core using BLC2. I didn't work with H4895 however that powder will match my BLC2 load ballistics & with a temperature stable powder.

TWF, being what many might picky can present problems in a custom gun, if you are without an almost bottomless money source, for sure.

If I had the proper tools I wouldn't mind doing the work, but some stuff like drilling and tapping and the bolt handle i can't do what I'd want with tools I have. To save money i may just put the gun together as a sighted rifle but can't even get the sights I want and it's frustrating not making a rifle you have planned in your head. I'll probably never get to Africa or hunt anything bigger then black bear with this 9.3, really think a bell and carlson stock would work nice and be a good weight that's enjoyable to shoot. The barreled action and bottom are 5.75lbs so together will be just over 8lbs unscoped.

Can anyone recommend sights other then the necg, I'd really want a banded front sight but don't see any even looking on ebay.

Years ago (1986) I bought a 3 leaf(w/standing sight) from Brownells. They still sold that sight with a base for round barrels up until a few years Go. They might still sell it? Of course, all "filing in" needs to be done for the load you have worked up. Hard to do that without a scope.

Last I looked i didn't see much from them, I'll give it another look tho. I am debating making a 1/4 rib but not sure yet.
