How many are addicted to Africa and need yearly fix?

been every year since 2016 with the exception of this one (didnt have time between other hunts and other trips planned) and 2020 when COVID shut down most of the world.. we're already planning 2027, and have tentitive plans for 2028 already being built...
 
Blackburn and Axis so far... I think water Buffalo is in the future.

I would go yearly if it was possible!

Sadly, I usually have money or free time... But rarely both at once.

A few times I have done two different country safaris on the same trip over which has always worked out great and so easy to do

Going back for my second trip next year. Will be 9 years apart. Too long but 3 kids since then, so tough with a young family.

Wouldn't have mattered though, would need to move south of the border to be able to hunt yearly. The cad/usd exchange crushes anychance of a yearly trip.

I just hope to be able to save up to bring my boys when they are 10-16.
 
Been there 8 times, 2008/2022.

Every year the travel experience has been worse than the previous one.

Same with export/import of trophies.

I´m just not up to it anymore.

Cost is known beforehand, so that is not the problem, logistics can be a nightmare, as well as dip and pack.

If you are trying to export a CITES 2 animal, then, good luck !

The addiction started in '93 when I told my s.o. that I thought we could afford a 10-day buffalo hunt. Her immediate reaction was "That's not enough days". I picked a winner. Her only caveat was we could not shoot any cats.

We made a plan for August. '94 and overall, it was great hunt with a good Dugga Boy, PG and an elephant I never planned for.

On the plane ride home Sadie asked me what we would hunt next. I cautiously said leopard, she agreed and we were off on a journey that would take us to 9 African countries over 25 years.

I'd love to go back a couple of time to hunt Uganda and Ethiopia, but it's gotten SO expensive it just isn't in the cards. I do keep my hand in as I'm in the business, but I have an attack of melancholy now and then.

Addiction? I don't know but obsession for sure.

The wife and I definitely got bit by the bug..

We'll typically wing-shoot in Argentina one year, and Africa the next, that's been a fun rotation!

Looking forward to our first non-South Africa hunt in Zim 2028..
