Hello dear passionate hunters...

After 8 years, 8 safaris and 7 countries visited for him, I have, finally, shot my buffalo in Mozambique with Sandy Mc Donald and his VERY PROFESSIONAL P.H Chris.

After 1 kilometer of stalking and crawling, we arrived at 40 meters from a herd of 200 animals. One of the big male was lying down with a female.

I stalked them and arriveed at 19 meters from them and wait 45 minutes on my knees waitinng for them that they stand up.

I shot the buff and after that he take the arrow, he stayed there with no movement. I PUT A SECOND ARROW STRAIGHT TO HIS HEART AND AFTER 20 SECONDS HE MOVED A LITTLE BIT TO TURN AND SEE WHAT HAPPENED. I take the advantage, just in case, to shoot an other and last third arrow right into his heart again and he dropped down to the place he was sleeping three minutes before.

It was a very large DUGGA boy buffalo, a warrior, very old with a very old trophy of 43 inches large.

MY GRAAL WAS DOWN and I can't tell you how happy I am to get this hunting dream with my bow.

Congrats Lio on this trophy of a lifetime! :first: Your stalk and kill played out well, the perfect scenario, nicely done. Thanks for the story.

Which hunting block/area did you hunt? Did you take any other species? Tell us a bit more about the area and the game you saw?

HELLO Jerome and thank you for youur answer.

It was on a 30,000 hectares area named SABIE GAME PARK on the south east border line of the Kruger National Park in Mozambique.

The rain was very present one week before and it was VERY difficult to see animals but they are every where. BUFFALOS, LIONS, LEOPARD, ELEPHANT, HIPPO AND CROCODILE along the big lake. I was there only for the buff but my wifee want to shoot a croc but the lake was full of water and it wasn't the good time for this kind of hunt.

The day after my buffalo a lot of elephant came into a village and destroy a lot of corn fields. THE GUIDE PRROPOSE TO ME TO HUNT ONE OF THEM AS A P.A.C and we went out of the camp early the morning to follow a bull track. It was for me incredible to see how those incredible animal can leave such few tracks especialy in the forest. AFTER three hours of stalk we found them and I shot a bull with the 458 lott because my bow wasn't strong enough and powerful to take such an animal. Next year, if it's possible, i will come back to shoot one with my bow and I take all the information from anybody who can help me to get strong enough bow for this future hunt...

SINCERELY YOURS.
Thanks.

Lionel, that's a cracking Cape buff, regardless of method of take, the fact you took him with your bow makes it even more special, congratulations on a fine bull. A big horned Asiatic, also bow hunted, mounted beside this bull would make an impressive display, no ?

Cheers,
Paul.

That has got to be the ultimate adrenaline rush right there. Cape Buff with a bow at 19 meters! I hope someday I have that opportunity. Thanks for the story and congrats on a fine trophy.

Thanks Jerome, I am ready to get any informatioon from your friend so if you can make the relation between us it's will very kind from you.

I am sure that IT WILL TAKE TIME TO ME to be good with such a strong bow and I ALREADY PLAN A TRIP FOR THE ELEPHANT IN MAY in MOZAMBIQUE SO AS SOON I WILL GET THIS MONSTER BOW AS SOON I will practice and better it will be.

MANY THANKS FOR EVERYTHING AND YOUR WONDERFUL FORUM.

Well done Lio... from previous experience guiding hunters like yourself, I can imagine the hunt precisely and congratulate you on pulling off a master-class of a buffalo hunt. Fantastic old bull and a wonder he was still hanging around the herd. Cheers,

My Elephant taken in Mozambique during this trip. It's not a big one but it was a P.A.C. hunt and the experience was the same as if it was a 50 pounder...

Very nice Lio. You mentioned taking this bull with a 458 lott though what sort of shot did you make?
