Dear All

Just back from a stunning hunt with Halsted Safaris in the Zambezi Valley, West of Mana Pools in the Nyakasanga area, Hurungwe Safari Section.
We were in the area during July, with great weather and lots of Game. Our PH was Paulilo Halsted, a young energetic 4th generation Zimbabwean, literally taking the bull by the horns and living his dream in the often turbulent country. He is a prime example of the new generation of Zimbabweans who in the face of shortages of everything imaginable( from cash to food) are making a stand for ETHICAL Big Game Hunting in a fantastic area. We had our fair share of nightly visitors from a pride of lion, to ele and heyna!!! Truly wild African bush
We were a party of 6, hunters with a few observers, using 416 Rem, 450/400 Rigby, 375 H&H, 300 WM and Paulilo using his own stunning Italian 500 Jeffrey for back up.
Our bag included Tuskless Ele, 2 x Buf, Impala, Warthog, hyena, kudu, eland. We hunted with Paulilo's Landcruiser, completely fitted out for proper hunting in a vast 280 000ha area. Not a single rattle was heard over the long dusty roads. His tracking team, Albino and Dennis were up to scratch and the cook , Rosa, was the best in the business. We took all our game on foot. Buf were taken after tracking for up to 16 - 20km per day, resulting in proper amazing short range shots in the thick Jess ( Valley Speciality )
Our pre and after hunt arrangements were handled professionally and with minimal fuss.
A very memorable and professional hunt.

Congrats on the hunt and thanks for sharing with us!

Nice buff, any pics of the tuskless?

Well done!

Great old looking buff - love the character! Congrats sir!

Thanks for sharing. I love that second Buff!

Congrats for a great hunt and some very good trophies !

A couple of very nice buf you have there. The hunters did well. Couple of questions. You had 6 hunters. How many PH's were in camp? Do you have pics to share of the plains game animals? How many days did your party hunt? Thanks Bruce

Sounds like it was a fantastic time. Congratulations to all.

Hi Bruce, Sorry I was not clear in the report, No we only had 2 hunters and 4 observers. One hunter came only during the last 5 days of the hunt. It was a 2;1 hunt for the Big Game. We had the camp for 16 days.

Congrats! Sounds like an amazing adventure!

What a grand safari! Very classic!
Thanks for sharing.

That makes more sense with the animals that you describe as being taken. Sounds like an awesome hunt. Congrats Bruce

Yes, we were happy with the amount of Buf seen each day. Initially we hunted dagga boys ( see pic ) and in the last few days we were after the herds as well. We have been hunting this area for >20 years and the game numbers have picked up in the last 5 years with lots of game, except Ele, as poaching is still rife up and down the Valley from Nyakasange to Chewore and Dande.

Love the camp, old style. Sounds like a great hunt

I bought a great deal of the brass he had for sale, plus I already had many hundred rounds.

How much brass are you looking for?

Hi Green Chile, I just recently bought a 470 NE barrel for my Thompson Center TCR 83-87 single shot. Im just looking for some 470 NE to shoot at the range just to try it out. I dont need anything special but I just wanted to see what you have left. I dont necessarily even need a full box.
Thanks
Bill
