Wanted Winchester Model 70 Super Grade 7x57

This gentleman is spot on, Cabela’s commissioned a run of featherweight super grades in 7x57 in 2013 or 2014. I would gladly take yours off your hands in a heartbeat; any recommendations on where I might find one?

Sorry no, and mine will never be for sale as it was the basis for a custom build that was engraved by a close family friend who does most of Rigby’s work. With his engraving, a stock by Canyon Creek, Safari sights and presentation grade metal polishing and bluing, I wouldn’t even have a clue what to appraise it at. The value of the engraving likely exceeds all of the other work put into the rifle. Oh, and it shoots 1/2 moa.

I have a walk in gun vault that doubles as a storm shelter. The buffalo trace is there to ensure we have something to drink if we get trapped!

So these post-64 Cabelas special edition 7x57 model 70s appear to have a fair collector value. Since they are a modern production rifle, opening the box, breathing on the gun, or pulling the trigger will be highly detrimental to the value of the gun as well.

Have you considered that the 7x57 is one of the most common cartridges ever made for custom mausers? There is a near limitless supply of 7x57 custom mausers out there that have suppressed values because of the commonality of the cartridge. Mexican, Argentina, Chile, etc, etc, etc.

I would think you could get a medium to high grade 7x57 mauser custom that would cost $10,000 to have built today for about the same price as a post-64 mod 70 7x57. And when you pull the trigger the first time, it doesn't lose a substantial amount of its value.

Just something to consider.

I have an as new in the box featherweight that is very nice but not marked super grade. Wasn't planning to sell it but for enough money that I could put towards a Rigby

For enough money Bob will have Rigby engraved on the barrel!!!

This is true. Although this didn't have $10,000 worth of work done to it, this 7x57 Chilean Mauser was once someone's cherished rifle and they put a lot of effort into the building it off that 1895 action.

E.R.Shaw barrel with barrel band sling stud, glass bedded action, Timney trigger, two position side safety, nicely done bolt handle, Williams rear sight maybe a Remington front sight, and one heck of a nice looking stick attached to it.

I picked it up last month at a local gun show for less than $500. I think it was well worth it even though it's a small ring Mauser. You can get a junky plastic economy rifle for the same price today.

I have a M70 Supergrade in 7x57 that is like new with box. I'll pull it from the safe tomorrow for a few pics. That said, I'm not sure I could part with it...
