WANTED: Amazing Safari Wanted Now Through April Convince Me

I agree. It appears that US Customs / CITES import permits for Campfire related hunts through end of 2018 were on a case by case basis. I infer that there is a possibility in the future but it is TBD. I'm guessing 25%-33% chance.
Yes, everything is on a case by case basis now and taking longer. I received my Marco Polo permit just as I was leaving for the hunt in November whereas in the past, they were issued in August if you applied by the May deadline. MP permits are not as controversial as lion and elephant and I haven’t heard a peep about the lion permit I applied for a year ago when the case by case method was announced. Friends in high places told me that I would get it after the mid-term elections last November but that was months ago and nothing so far.

Friends,

I've been following up on many nice offers from some wonderful people. I only wish I could come visit all of you. (Particularly the RSA invitations with my children...perfect family offers were made)

In the end, I decided to go with Tokoloshe Safaris (Lon Denney) for an exportable bull hunt in the Binga campfire area up by the Zambezi for a week's hunt this month. Making final arrangements now and will be on the ground in little more than a week.

I look forward to getting to meet and hunt with Lou Hallamore on this trip to an area of Zimbabwe I've never seen before.

I love the people of Zim, just nervous as always with the logistical perils of traveling to "New Rhodesia". Fingers crossed.

Thank you for all the suggestions and opportunities that were presented.

-Rookhawk
It’s no trouble. Just get your outfitter set with what you want to do and get the plane tickets. Nothing as exciting as a last minute Safari. I’m jealous!

Sounds like a wonderful hunt! Looking forward to the hunt report!

Expecting a great report from RH....all the goods and bads!

We very much appreciate the fact that Rookhawk chose to hunt with our company! Thank you! After some bad experiences with the community last year, this year is looking great. At the moment we are overran with elephant. No PAC has been allowed in the area. The bulls seem to realize something new is happening here and lets take advantage of it! They are everywhere! The buffalo are coming back in herds with some really good Dugga Boys!

Rookhawk will be hunting with well known Zimbabwe PH Lou Hallimore, one of the best of the best!

In 2020 we are going to try and do all of our elephant hunts between February and May. It will help to stop crop destruction, while providing meat and money for the community.

Lets all hope that Rookhawks short elephant hunts meets and exceeds his expectations. We know that there is at least one 50lb. bull out there lets hope that he and Rookhawk meet, after that it is up to the shooter (and the elephant).

Rookhawk, I know that saying something good about a CZ would be difficult for you. However I have a favor to ask. Lon Denny sold me a CZ 550 in 404 Jeffery a couple of years ago. Although it had a rough start, she now "sings like a bird." I'd appreciate you shaking Lon's hand and telling him thanks for me. Good luck on your hunt.

Hopefully ELE is in the salt. Good luck can't wait for report.

At airport ready to depart. TSA brute force broke my locks. Ammo can’t fly that way. No apologies. They just don’t know how to open TSA locks. (They reset the combinations and then slammed them shut, bending them. Then used a pliers to try to fix them.

Solution: I always bring spares because nothing ever goes smooth. Murphy’s law is more of a guideline!

Unbelievable....sorry MoFo's!!!

Murphy gets thwarted again. Bags were checked all the way through...but there is no firearm agreement across airlines in Africa! Made them redo so I can claim luggage in RSA and bring to SAPS for forwarding to next carrier!

Nice try Murphy, nice try.

And karma turns against old Murphy: upgraded out of cattle class for the first leg!

Business - nice. Particularly them.

Sweet. That is definitely more-than-fair karmic retribution for dealing with the TSA lock issue!

Have a great hunt, I'm looking forward to your report.

Safe travels and have a great hunt!

How did it go?

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
