Terms I am tired of hearing

Back when I was working they sent all of us through diversity training and one of the questions we asked is what do women want to be called? We had 5 or 6 of them in the class and they couldn't come up with anything.

Madam was derogatory because that is what you called the head of the local cat house, same thing with lady, it gave them the lady of the night idea.

Woman is self explanatory, as in a part of a man, along with female.

We went through just about everything and never did come to a conclusion of what they wanted to be called

Along these same lines, how about the guys on the hunting shows continuing to whisper in conversation after they shot an animal at 300 yards....(in hushed tones) "well, I feel that was a good shot, maybe a bit far back but close enough the pump house with that pill to slow him down..."

That bugs me. The animal is dead, the hunt is over. If there were any other animals in the area they are long gone at the sound of the shot. Speak up and talk normally.

Horns when referring to Deer Antlers. People, esp. experience hunters and guides who constantly refer to Antlers as Horns. I cringe every time I hear someone say "Elk Horns" or "Deer Horns"

Yes, shot is when the bullet hits the animal where killed is when that causes its death and the closer those two events are together the better

Not always the case, the most recent example was my last trip in Zambia, shot a waterbuck and when we found it there were 3 puku staring at us about 100 yards away, due to brush we put on a short stalk and I was able to get one.

The other part of this story is we were talking normally, and the truck was pulling up. So hush voices didnt exactly help, but game especially ones not use to being hunted/shot at/killed dont always run off at the sound of a shot.

With pronghorns being an exception to that, but they seem to be a weird exception from what I understand. They have horns but shed the outer layer kinda like cervids do with antlers.

Pronghorn are closer cousins to giraffe than any deer or antelope. Googling extinct giraffe relatives will show that multi branching horns are pretty common and get stupidly extravagant.

Well, were pretty common, if they're extinct critters. But they did indeed get "stupidly extravagant" from the pictures I remember. Not to mention the extinct proto-rhinos that had some crazy-looking horns their own selves.

It's 2020. Language evolves constantly and the only constant is that no one likes a stick in the mud. The only thing I don't like about my language is that cursing is a bit too natural for me.

Tho as Webley pointed out, remembering proper tenses is invaluable.

Also, I feel that the term "socialism" has been overused by both detractors and proponents to the point of meaning nothing. Words like snowflake, fascist, liberal, cuck, sexist, etc. have all been so grossly watered down that these words have basically no meaning.

The actual distinction has to do with the material it's made of, since as I said, pronghorn horns are horns but the outer layer gets shed on a regular basis as the exception to the "continues to grow" rule. Horn is more or less the same material as fingernails and hair over a bone core, while antlers are just plain ol' bone the same as, say, your femur or humerus.

In reference to the many horn/ antler comments: I believe all antlers are solid, and all horns are hollow.
