Here’s a pic if a cute little 17 5/8 Springbok from 4/2021. A bit longer than I wanted to shoot with a Handgun at 240 yards.

I was shooting a 378GNR, which has a 405 winchester parent case necked to 375. A 260 accubond at 2050 FPS in a 12” barrel. Would be about 2450 in a long barrel. The gun will shoot better than I am capable of one handed, but I can shoot that one pretty well.
the springbok wad about 240, got my Zebra at 265 yards with the same. It works well, in spite of me behind it.

Wow. I bet that handgun has some snappy recoil! That’s a big bullet

Honestly, it’s a joy to shoot one handed. All my scopes are about 3 degrees off center, as I slightly lean my head to the right ( right handed) you need a good grip, but not a death grip, solid wrist, and let your elbow bend. That keeps you from ending up with a ring in the middle of your forehead. If your leaning out in an awkward position, the gun may come back along side you head, but not into it. The 260 accubonds go thru Zebra, kudu, gemsbok etc. It’s a good balance of range, expansion and penetration. At the slightly slower speeds with a pistol, you get a bit less expansion, but great penetration.
Running it faster, let’s the bullet expand a bit better, but becomes really BRUTAL on the recoil side. Need to create a happy medium. Even slowing it down to 375JDJ speeds, it performs well, but has the ability to step it up some with the 405 parent case over a smaller .444 marlin parent case of the JDJ. Hope this makes sense to you.

In looking at photos of the springboks of others, I realize mine is very average - at best (it was an afterthought add on). I still like it. The wind was blowing a kajillion miles an hour. After trying to use the terrain to get close to herds, who only wanted to "run away! run away!" this one stood still and stayed around. I managed to get off a shot at a ranged 235 yards and it dropped. Right before I shot I looked at my PH and said "You realize we're going to get down there and find a suicide note beside it."

Every animal is a Trophy. Some are just bigger than the rest. If you enjoyed the experience, and have an appreciation of the hunt, that’s what truly counts

I agree with Bearskinner. Tundra, some of your trophies may be huge, some average, and some even below average. But your time there, your memories made, the experience itself..... That's your true trophy. And that cannot be measured with a tape!

I am truly humbled by the SCI measurements of my animals from the last two African hunts. I submitted the scoresheets and pictures, a couple weeks later I got a phone call congratulating me. All VERY good scores, and my 17 5/8” springbok was a new number one. Springbok, wasn’t on my hunt list that trip, but when my PH Johan Maritz told me it was a monster, the best he has ever seen. I whole heartedly agreed, but it took a couple days to find him again, after a couple unsuccessful stalks. Moral of this story, listen to your PH. They know quality, as it’s their profession.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
