Red dot for .375

Which red dot is a good unit to put on a Winchester bolt action safari grade 375?

thanks to some recommendations from the AH crew and some others (M. Black) I decided to put a weaver style removable base and red dot on my pre-64 375. For now, I just threw a cheap older SIG Romeo on that I had laying around. The weaver style base is effective, and the size of the red dot is ok, but my intention is to replace it with an Aimpoint. I love my SRO on my double, it just works so well, but aesthetically I think the look of an Aimpoint H2 is more fitting for this rifle. I can take it on an off easily. Like mentioned above, I'm not sure of how well it will return to zero (mine has a lever on the side similar to your typical QD scope rings) but seems tight and robust enough.

Not that I could find for the RMR to a weaver base. It could easily be done but the trijicon adapter just uses way too much metal.

I have a RMR HD on a Winchester 1895 in 405 and one on a Whitworth 458. I have seen the Burris FF 3 hold up great to 458 Lott as well.

Get a direct mount to the receiver using the existing holes. EGW makes this direct mount and they work extremely well for the Win 70:

Valid point, but Ive never seen a red dot go down on a hunt when the seconds count. Center window shot also works if range is limited. Also one reason I went with the RMR HD as they are bullet proof.

Then again, the Fastfire I saw on the 458 Lott had more elephants, let alone hunts in general, accounted to it than most people can ever dream of. Proper cheek weld and fit I would put far above ability to QD a quality red dot.

I do bring the correct allex/torx keys with on every hunt should a swap or removal at camp be needed, but then again I also bring any bits and a driver needed for any optics or mounts as well.

In NRA Precision Pistol (bullseye), some would compete with lesser brands mounted on their .45 ACP M1911’s. Some of those lesser quality reflex sights would then fail, usually halfway through a match!

Buy once, cry once was learned by most. Me, I already knew and shot with Aimpoint H1’s on three competition pistols. I never had a problem. If fact, I never heard even a rumor of an Aimpoint failing. Although the sight adjustments are too course for bullseye events, Trijicon’s are in the same class for durability.

Trijicon and AimPoint are the only brands I would recommend on a rifle that the person needs to depend on for their life.

Dangerous game like the Big 5 or Dangerous 7, and let's not forget the bipedal baddies as well.
