I've stayed away from this thread but figured I'd chime in as someone who lives very close to NYC. NYC is lost. Two terms of the clown Deblasio and now Mamdani. We are watching it go from it's renaissance in the early 2000's to back to the 70's and 80's.

My family no longer visits. Too dangerous with the kids. Random attacks, instigating in Times Square, subway hooligans/degenerates, etc. Areas you never thought you'd run into issues have open air drug use, violence, reaction-baiting, and all sorts of despicable behavior.

He's lit the real estate in northern NJ, Westchester, LINY on fire. Houses in Bergen County NJ are going for $100,000's over ask with cash offers. People are fleeing in droves. Most of my wealthy clients are out. They are renting their properties for insane prices and living in the Hamptons, Florida, Texas, etc. I have one client who has properties in upper Manhattan. They rent them out, make a killing, and come from their home in the Hamptons once a week to the office.

The wealth-hole this is going to create is massive. They played the Robin Hood tax the rich game and are going to find out it's a losing, self-destructive, battle. The money always wins in the end. The losers end up being the forgotten poor folks who are stuck paying $5000 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment they share as a family of 5.

I’m paying about as much attention to soccer drama as I did to the Team Canada curling tournament controversy. Zero.

The only reason I’ve ever heard of either is that these things hit my newsfeed.

I just hear the word “soccer” from someone and I suddenly remember that I have an IKEA closet organizer instruction manual to review for the day I decide to install it.

I’m with you, when talk turns to soccer or golf my eyes glaze over and my brain wants to shut down which doesn’t take a whole hell of a lot.
But I do hope the US wins!

Qualifying games have been treated differently to the actual world cup matches...so not the same.....if could be bothered would try pull up the article on it...but as been burning all day and just bout to turn light off can't be bothered....

I wouldn’t doubt anything. Could be hype marketing or foreign powers with nefarious intentions at work. In just the last month or so I’ve noticed an explosion of AI generated, biased junk and anti-culture junk targeting younger users on the net and on the various streaming TV outlets. If you have young ones, be vigilant! Even adults who should know better, can get sucked in…

Nice try at deflection, but that was before Trump kicked Epstein out of his life and banned him from Mar a Lago.

People looked to this President to clean up the swamp, but now accept his stock market manipulation and blatant interference with international sports. Unfortunately, I think the USA was getting a lot of great press with this World Cup until that moment. A real “own goal” situation and now an international joke because of how badly they lost.
