Paxton offered to drop out if Cornyn passed the Save Act. It didn’t happen. Senators are reaping the consequences of their actions/inactions.
That was a false promise. There were not 60 votes in the Senate to pass toe Save Act. Paxton also wants to do away with the filibuster. Imagine if during the Biden administration the filibuster was eliminated?

You'd have:
  • Abortion codified as Federal law.
  • Supreme court packed.
  • DC as a State.
  • Gun control codified.
  • And just about every other leftist wish list.
Eliminating the filibuster is a double edged sword. You'd have whiplash every 4 or 8 years with laws being passed back and forth between the extreme left and right.

Recently read about the California capitol annex project. Interesting when compared to Trump's Whitehouse ballroom project. I am wondering if the same project manager's working the California bullet train are working the capitol annex project.

California’s Capitol Annex project in Sacramento is a massive, highly controversial reconstruction of the state's legislative office building. Initially proposed in 2018 at a budget of \(\$543.2\) million, the taxpayer-funded project's costs have escalated to between \(\$1.1\) and \(\$1.2\) billion, making it one of the most expensive government buildings in the United States. [1, 2, 3]
Current Status and Timeline
  • Completion: Expected in October 2027.
  • Progress: As of late Spring 2026, the building is about 55% complete. The structure is enclosed, and interior framing and electrical vault work are underway.
  • Budget Overruns: Project leaders identified a roughly \(\$98\) million cost overrun, driven by inflation, litigation, and significant structural redesigns requested by the State Senate. Officials plan to cover these additional costs by trimming landscaping plans and cutting the originally proposed Westside Visitor Center, avoiding requests for additional tax dollars. [1, 2, 3]
Controversies and Transparency
  • Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs): The project has faced intense public and legislative scrutiny because thousands of contractors and project leaders are bound by NDAs. Critics argue these agreements—along with decisions made behind closed doors by unelected legislative staff—have shrouded the billion-dollar project in secrecy.
  • Design and Historic Preservation: Preservationists and watchdog groups (such as Save Our Capitol) have raised concerns that the new, larger, and modern glass structure clashes with the historic 1860s white-plaster landmark it replaces.
  • Legislative Action: State lawmakers like Assemblyman Josh Hoover have introduced legislation attempting to void the NDAs, halt the cancelled visitor center project, and restore public transparency to the massive public works venture

The filibuster was never a part of the Constitution. It is a Senate construct. The filibuster was instituted to allow the minority to talk. It has been changed a number of times over the years. Now it is used to keep legislation from reaching the Senate floor.

As was mentioned multiple times a few months ago regarding the Save Act. Thune can bring it to the floor and actually make the minority Senators talk till they drop and still maintain the filibuster but he refuses to. The Senate is lazy. Filibustering actually means talking. Not refusing to allow a bill on the floor.

Democrats want to get rid of the filibuster the next time they get the majority. Schumer actually tried to get rid of it last time but Manchin and Sinema refused to go along. Reid used the nuclear option to get rid of the filibuster on district and circuit judges. McConnell followed through and did the same for SCOTUS judges. The filibuster as we know it is moribund. The question is do Republicans want to get rid of it now or act principled and get destroyed when Democrats gain control of the Senate.

Just mind blowingly unbelievable....what the fk.......

"If you think Trump is on both sides of this case, you clearly don’t understand how our three branches of government work. Are you truly as uninformed as your posts would indicate, or are you just trying to stir the pot?"

Hey @WAB remind me again what branch of government Trump is in charge of? And which branch is the IRS apart of? Open a textbook buddy. Wasn't it Steve Bannon, Steven Miller, and Donald Trump along with their other toadies and lawyers arguing about a "Unitary Executive Theory?"...Go take your clown show to the circus where it belongs.

The U.K is not the only place where the thugs will arrest you for a Facebook post.
Trinidad police arrest a Texas woman over a Facebook post about the quality of city water.

Yeah, I would sue the shit out of that police department too.

Says the guy who tried to argue Reagan was traitor for selling weapons to Iran, said there was no difference between legal and illegally immigrants, praised Biden for ending the war in Afghanistan, and stated brillant economic theories like you can't have a strong economy while running a deficit.

Please continue to enlighten us with more of your brilliance.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
