Genuinely happy for you and the kids both as I’m sure they didn’t learn finance from the Easter bunny!

Let’s just say my parents were not as forthcoming with financial literacy, but despite that I’m still in a position today where I could sell off everything and retire.

Don’t mistake disdain for boomers as being toward all boomers; no more than the average millennials tirade would include your son.

truthfully I see yourself and other esteemed members of this community such as @Mark A Ouellette and other boomers as an asset to humanity.

However there are LARGE swaths of your generation that have been a negative to this nation since they were in high school.

I will hand over everything this Boomer has accumulated if those pictures are not the enlightened leftist of our education system. You couldn’t swing a dead cat without hitting a retired teacher or professor in that crowd.

The most dangerous cancer inside the walls.

Kinda puts into perspective the bloated state of education huh?

The university I work for has 500% over representation of boomers in out department….. lifelong academics that WILL NOT LEAVE; we’re talking people in their 70-80’s who stick around because of their “work ethic” but it’s really because they are control freaks that delegate their work to multiple layers of redundant admin.

I’m literally watching people in their 30’s who have worked for 10years leave because they cannot advance through the boomer blockade.

And the boomers wonder why they can’t retain people…….

A third! I always heard it was 3 months income! I didn’t do that.. If anyone has ever watched The Office, Michael Scott spent 3 years income on one :ROFLMAO: (thinking it was the three year rule rather than three months)
Ya, you are right. I was taking it off of the top of my head

Working in an academia is a whole different cat than the private sector. You are surrounded. But don’t let that completely color your perspective across the board about Boomers. I’m not a Boomer. I’m GenX but by just two years.

Part of the blockade you all are dealing with is the near impossibility it is to weed out slackers in the public sector. This is usually not a problem in the private sector where it’s sink or swim. Tenure doesn’t matter as much as results.

Was reading about that....

It’s pretty crazy. I’m not man enough to be up that close videoing 200 chimps in an all out civil war with each other where 10% are killed.

I grew up in an academic family and watched my father, a dean, deal with the whole tenure nonsense back in the seventies and eighties. It has only become worse as the university teaching profession has become more lucrative (thanks to the student loan came). My decade and a bit in the corporate world is a good contrast to academia. My corporation had a mandatory retirement rule for anyone reaching 65. That applied from the CEO on down. Just to add further incentive to work hard on that whole profit thing while one could, the average "lifespan" of a VP was around five years.

It’s hilarious that the liberal media is crying out that the Iranian war is a failure because complete and 100% regime change has not happened yet. Therefore a government still stands etc. etc.

When our own US government has been shut down for 55 days and they expect Iran to change their government in one week

I appreciate the compliment my friend but this reminds me of a life lesson of long ago.
That lesson is more easily expressed by the fictional words of Sergeant Buster Kilrain as he responded to Colonel Chamberlain in the movie Gettysburg. The movie is based on the novel, The Killer Angels.

For those who lack the Internet bandwidth to view this clip of the movie, this is the start of their conversation.

Colonel, "Tell me something Buster, what do you think of Negros?"
Kilrain, "Well if you mean the race... I don't really know. This is not a thing to be ashamed of.
The thing is, you cannot judge a race.
Any man who judges by the group is a pea-wit...
You take men one at a time."

That's not to call anyone here a pea-wit, but at times, we can all be such.
Personally, I must remind myself to not be an asshole so often :)

If you liked Buster Kilrain's speach, you will love Colonel Chamberlain's

And the 20th Maine defending Little Round Top,

Here's the movie's trailer,

If you haven't seen this movie, you should! This is especially for those who are not Americans. Through our struggles such as the Civil War, coming together as one from so many different sub-cultures is what makes us Americans!

Swalwell in the news.

Katie Porter has had the information for years. She was falling behind in the Governor race and determined this week was the time to pull the pin on the grenade.

Swalwells condemnations during the Kavanaugh hearings come to mind. It’s always humorous to watch people who live in glass houses play with rocks.

It’s not just academia, the local special interest groups like the cattlemen’s association, sustainability collective, gardener club; are all filled with them and as I’ve written about before the ill behavior at public events held by elected officials is so inexcusable they have to bring in state troopers and sheriff’s deputies in to deal with the more aggressive.

One of the main instigators is a California transplant named Karen……

I’m talking about senior citizen with full on toddler meltdown tantrums.

Swalwell in the news.

What I find most curious about Swalwell is that he is a very well known shit stain of a human.. whether you like or hate his politics, he is clearly a turd that stinks up the place for the rest of humanity..

And people still act surprised every time he’s in another turd of a human being type scandal..
