on a lighter note...

In the 50's - 60's I remember on several occasions family members (1 time my mother in her nightgown in the morning returning from driving me to high school with charts) running out of gas. Walking to the gas station and paying $5.00 refundable deposit for a rectangular sheetmetal 1 gallon can (same type we would get paint thinner (mineral spirits) in. Sometimes with a spout, sometimes without. Walk back to the car with a gallon of gas. If no spout about half would spill onto the ground. Drive to the gas station and return can and get deposit back in cash or gas. My dad would drive across the street to another station to purchase gas for 1 cent per gallon less! $0.34 instead of $0.35 per gallon. If there happened to be a "gas war" occurring it dropped to $0.30 per gallon.

Back in the day I ran out of gas coming home from duck hunting. The stores can didn’t have a spout so I took the barrel off my shotgun and used it. That gasoline cleaned the barrel up real nice!

Back when you were kids did you ever make the rounds to the closed service stations and drain the hoses that were connected to the pump?

You had to find the ones that didn't use padlocks on the pump handle but there were enough of them that we used to make a pretty good haul of gas in a couple of hours. We did get chased off a couple of times.

Man, I used to run oil refineries and I’ve seen some good fires, but these folks are setting up for something really special!

Some of the videos I have seen from people taking fuel from crashed tankers in different countries here is unbelievable.....and some of the end results aren't too good .....but strangely enough no plastic bags in sight.....

They sell them on the side of the road everywhere in India. Pic from 2019.

Yikes

Coming back from the SHOT Show last year, this turned into a reality. It was late January 2020 and we had a number of Chinese passengers on the flight and one got sick. Our plane was met in Baltimore by emergency services and we waited half an hour while the sick passenger was removed. They took him to the hospital to test for "novel Coronavirus". Supposedly, he was negative but we did make the NBC Nightly News.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
