Answers to some common questions provided by Jamy Traut ; Ask the Namibian Guides, D.Rupp. Safari Press.

" Shoot often from different positions, and not only from comfortable ones."

"Most plains game is hunted between 80 and 150 yards."

"Most hunters make the mistake of shooting to far behind the shoulder"

"Make sure you are comfortable with your rifle. Make sure you are fit enough for the type of safari you booked."

..:welcome:.. to AH. What rifle are you hunting with ? What optics are you using ? Have you been practicing off the sticks ? Can you drink Jaegermeister..?

Best of luck on your hunt.

Welcome to AH 163bc!

Has anyone tried Hungarian Unicum? It's like Jaegermeister on steroids. It's a little less sweet, so I prefer it, but it's hard to find here in the states.

Taking a Remington 700 in 300 Winchester. Been practicing on sticks. Can drink Jeagermeister.

Welcome to AH. If you're after an Eland or Zebra, shoot 200gr projectiles. If not, 180's will serve you well if you prefer the lighter loads. Personally I prefer what I've come to call the big 3, North Fork Bonded cores (if you load your own), A-Frames and TSX/TTSX. Otherwise, I'd carry Nosler Partitions.

Hi 163bc,
Welcome to the forum. Hope that you have a great trip in Namibia and remember to post some photos with a report when you get back.

Take Care and all the best for your trip.

i did have some behind the bar that i got in hungary when i was boar shooting there, but only gave it to people who i decided werent quite in full party mode to get them fired up.....:heh: there are plenty of variations of local fire water in different european countries, some that are a lot worse than others i can tell you.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. Very excited about my upcoming trip. !! Tons of great info and people willing to share it on this site. Thanks !! 163bc

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
