Just before the shot....
IT SEEMS That THE FOLLOWING CLOUDED LEOPARDS ARE NOR 'REAL' LEOPARDS OR EVEN A SUB-SPECIES,BUT IN A WHOLE OTHER CLASS OF THEIR OWN!
Any vet,biologist etc. out there?

Jaco, you are obviously an authority on leopard hunting. What do you feel is the best shot to take on a leopard? High shoulder ?, or behind the shoulder heart/lung region. I know this is an old thread but hoping you can give me some insight, as you know I ll be hunting them soon. Thanks. Johnnyblues.

johnnyblues, I would shoot for the lungs. If you miss this target exactly, you will probably be alright, but mess up the high shoulder shot and you are most likely going to have problems. A animal can not live if it can't breath

Yes sir I agree. There are some good pictures on shot placement on the site. I've studied them and agree if I split the body in half and hold just behind the shoulder very similarly as shooting a whitetail I should catch lungs and possibly the top of the heart.johnnyblues, I would shoot for the lungs. Another Great Cat for Spear Safaris. We managed to secure a standby Leopard Tag in Limpopo and Ray was the taker on the Hunt. Ray was lucky enough to bag this great Old Tom during the safari. Well done Ray.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
