KUIU Pro Brush Pant

I did my 11th trip to Africa this summer. Took my two kids and wife, all of us had the Kuiu Brush Pants on the trip for the first time. Best thorn pant any of us have ever worn. Very comfortable and did a fantastic job.

I’ve got some Orvis trousers for bird hunting that I bought a long time ago. I don’t wear them that much anymore as I’ve instead used some Filson thornproof chaps that slip on over regular pants. A buddy has some super light chaps that are snake proof, too. Highly recommend adding this bit of kit to gear closet.
I second the filsonthorn proof chaps. I hunt a lot in heavey thorn apple brush and multiflora rose bushes. The filson chaps protect from all and are pretty lightweight. Also easy on and off.

@Badjer - Sorry my friend. Whenever the guy I work with is walking around in the True Werk pants, I’m transported back to the 1970’s wearing ribbed corduroy pants in middle school and the sound they make.

I was going to ask, corduroy?, 80's nylon tracksuit?, cellophane? but you answered for me.
Unsure why 85% Nylon and 15% Spandex sounds like corduroy but I'll take your word for it.

I can tell you this... Duluth Trading Firehose pants don't work against cholla and prickly pear. Not sure how they would hold up in Africa.

More like parachute pants from the 80’s, but you get the point.

I wore 2 denim pants from Costco in solid olive and brown. $10.99 I believe my wife pays for them. Just finished 25 days in the East Cape. No problems whatsoever with any brush ruining them!

Don’t waste your money!!!

I completely thrashed two pairs of Carhartt pants in Africa on a recent hunt by running through thorny brush. I came home to pulls and holes all over the front legs. Wife says I'm not allowed to wear them "out" anymore. Looking for something lightweight to take their place and short of making another trip to RSA to visit the Jonnson outlet in Pretoria, the KUIU PRO Brush Pant. Wondering if anyone has any experience with them or something similar.

I've also seen the Beretta Thorn Resistant EVO Pants on the internet if anyone has input on these.

I don’t have this pair of Kuiu pants but generally their stuff is hard to beat. For me, some of the Kuiu sizing and fit is inconsistent so you might want to allow extra time for an exchange when you order. If you are a wear it until it worn out person like me, I have had the very small side vent zippers fail on similar Sitka pants. Not sure if Kuiu would have the same issue.

That last couple of pairs I’ve bought were under armour tactical pants. They are made of rip stop material that won’t “pick”. It does feel a bit more harsh to the touch but doesn’t pickup hitchhiker seeds like the softer stuff does. My only complaint about these is Velcro tabs on the cargo pockets. I just cut off the Velcro and they’re good to go. Double zippered back pockets are nice. They also make a version without cargo pockets but I prefer more pockets. Obviously a bit cheaper vs Kuiu too. Found them on Amazon sale for $45 about a year ago.
